September 25 Devotion - The Spirit of Truth

When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
John 16:13

In his popular book ‘Experiencing God’, Former Pastor Henry Blackaby writes:
When you enter into an intimate love relationship with God, you will know and do the will of God and experience Him in ways you have never known Him before. Only God can bring you into that kind of relationship.
The relationship comes first. If you have received no clear direction about how to serve the Lord, perhaps it is time to deepen your fellowship with Jesus. The Christian life is a marathon that begins with a walk.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. I praise You and glorify You. Lord, I long for the Holy Spirit and the Word to lead me to an intimate love relationship with You. Jesus, I want You to teach me to be Your friend, deepen my fellowship with You Jesus. I pray in Your name Jesus for The Holy Spirit to instruct me to know Your timing and what You want me to accomplish in Your service. I want You to use me to accomplish The Father’s will that ‘all men be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth’. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

September 24 Devotion - Commit to The Lord

Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.
Proverbs 16:3

[Commit], as a man transfers a burden from his own back to one stronger and better able to bear it.
[your thoughts] i.e., The plans or counsels out of which the works spring.

(From Barnes' Notes, Electronic Database Copyright © 1997, 2003 by Biblesoft, Inc. All rights reserved.)

We need to depend on God totally and transfer our burdens to Him, when we do that all our work for His kingdom and the plans for our service to Him will be in accordance with His will and His mind.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. My heavenly  Father, I want to transfer my burdens from my own back to You because You are stronger and wiser and by doing this my activities will be based on Your counsel and Your plans. I know that when I commit and trust my works wholly to You; You will cause my thoughts to become agreeable to Your will. I praise You God and glorify You in the name of Your only begotten son Jesus. To Him be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.

September 23 Devotion - Following God's Plan

“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”
John 12:24

The statement that knowledge is power is in reality not a true statement because only applied knowledge is power. I have learnt a lesson and I need to apply it if I want the full power of what God is teaching me to be in my life. In writing these devotions, I am the first person to benefit.
It's good to be passionate, however I seem to be unhappy if things do not happen my way and I need to learn that I have to put my dreams on God’s altar.
Does this apply to you too? Are you frustrated because you're trying to force things to happen on your timetable? Sometimes we hold on to things so tightly, but actually, when we let them go, that's when God brings them to pass.
We have to remember, God already knows what we want and what we are in need of. He's the One who put those desires in us.
“Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”
Matthew 6:8
We shouldn't be consumed by trying to make things happen. Instead, a greater act of faith is to be happy right where we are; to stay open and trust God because He has great plans in store.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. I praise You and glorify You.
Lord, teach me that You will give me the desires of my heart when I thank You consistently for directing my steps. I really need to learn this lesson. Lord, let this lesson go deep into my conscious and subconscious mind. Help me today to release my dreams, my desires, my "wants" like a seed falling to the ground and dying, and I know that in Your fertile plan I will receive Your desires for me which are so much better for me. I know that You have the best plan for my future, and I trust You to bring it to pass in my life. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I pray in His Holy Name. To Him be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.

September 22 Devotion - It is all from God

For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

1 Corinthians 4:7

Although we all want to feel good about ourselves, let us immediately recognize that everything we have is from God. Whatever blessings, beginning with our talents, our intelligence, our ability to speak languages, our successes, our wealth and going all the way to our salvation is from God. Whatever spiritual gifts we have are from God. Your voice, her organizational abilities, his preaching abilities, my writing abilities, and these devotions they are all from God, lest anyone should boast.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. I praise You and glorify You.
Thank You Lord for all the talents, physical attributes, success and joy in my life, they are all blessings from You Lord. Thank for this ‘devotion ministry’ You have given me. May they be a blessing to anyone reading them. LORD, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can, always in humility, recognize Your hand in everything I am, and everything I own and in everything good in my life. I thank You for the grace of Your Salvation through Jesus Christ, I know that that is a gift that I am chosen for and that I received freely, and that Jesus paid His life for my redemption and salvation. What a fantastic gift beyond description. Thank You Lord.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

September 19 Devotion - In times of weakness

He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9

Our prayers are not always answered in the form in which we desire; however they are answered in the assurance of grace sufficient to support us. Grace signifies the good-will of God towards us, and that is enough to enlighten, strengthen and comfort us in all our afflictions and/or distresses.

One of the reasons why our prayers are not always answered in the way we requested may be that the grace that will be received if the calamity is not removed will be of greater value to the individual than would be the direct answer to his/her prayer.

When we feel that we are weak in ourselves, we need to go to Christ, and enjoy His supplies of Divine strength and grace.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. LORD, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can respond prayerfully in times of weakness. Show me the purpose of what I am facing, and shower me with Your Divine grace, wisdom and strength, to handle the situation according to Your will for my life. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I pray in His Holy Name. To Him be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.

September 18 Devotion - When We Mourn the Loss of a Loved One

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction.
2 Corinthians 1: 3

Lord, convert my sad and depressed  feelings to joy by helping me to concentrate on Your promises, for You have said:

Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength Nehemiah 8:1

The righteous cry and the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles, weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning. Psalms 34:17, Psalms 30:5

The ransomed of the LORD will return and come with joyful shouting and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 51:11

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you. Isaiah 43:2

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

I pray to You Father in Jesus’ name, to whom be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen.

September 17 Devotion - I will give you rest

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
 Proverbs 3:5-6
Matthew 11:28

Come to me: I understand this phrase in the context of the new covenant to mean that the knowledge of God and His gift of grace are only available through Jesus and is an invitation to come to Him for salvation and to follow Him as His disciples.
I will give you rest: I understand that that this is the rest we get when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and we are as a result redeemed, justified, reconciled, and sanctified.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. I praise You and glorify You.
Lord, give me wisdom not to lean on my own understanding and strengthen me Lord to always trust You. Direct my paths Lord to always follow Your Son Jesus Christ. Jesus, help me to always put all my worries and problems at the feet of Your Cross. I know that You will give me rest, peace, joy, and fill my heart with Your love, for You died for the forgiveness of my sins and to redeem me and declare me righteous in the eyes of the LORD.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

September 16 Devotion - Hearing God's Voice

Whoever is of God hears the words of God. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. Moreover, he said to me, “Son of man, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart, and hear with your ears. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

John 8:47
John 10:27-28
Ezekiel 3:10
Isaiah 30:21
Psalm 119:105

I have often wondered: does God still speak to us today? If I listen will He speak personally to me? The answer based on God’s grace is YES! God is always available to hear from us and I believe He wants us to hear His voice. God loves us and we need to love Him back so as to be able to hear His voice.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord You are my teacher and guide, teach me to listen and hear Your voice distinctively. I will be still, and know that You are God Psalm 46:10 LORD, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can have a strong faith that You will talk to me and I will hear you and obey Your will.
You will show me the path of life Psalm 16:11 You will instruct me and teach me in the way I should go; You will guide me with Your eye. Psalm 32:8 Let Your word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I pray in His Holy Name. To Him be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.

September 9 Devotion - THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Galatians 5:22–23

"Fruit of the Spirit" is a Biblical term that sums up the nine visible attributes of a true Christian life. We learn from scripture that these are not individual "fruits" from which we pick and choose. Rather, the fruit of the Spirit is one ninefold "fruit" that characterizes all who truly walk in the Holy Spirit. Collectively, these are the fruits that all Christians should be producing through The Holy Spirit. The way to the fulfillment of the law is not to live under the law like slaves, but to live by the Spirit as children of God.

The fruit of the Holy Spirit is first and foremost love. All of the other qualities associated with having the Holy Spirit flow from the presence of God’s love in us.
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
1 John 4:16

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. I praise You and glorify You.
O gracious and merciful God, fill my heart with the fruit of Your Holy Spirit - love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Fill me Jesus with the moral qualities produced by the Spirit. Teach and strengthen me to love those who hate me; to pray for those who despitefully use me; so that I may be a child of God, my Father, who makes the sun to shine on the evil and on the good and send rain on the just and on the unjust. Fill my heart dear Lord with Your unconditional Agape love.I pray that out of Your glorious riches You may strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. Ephesians 3:16-17
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I ask or think, according to the power that works in me, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

September 8 Devotion - The Power of the Tongue

Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Proverbs 17:1
Proverbs 18
James 1:19

Through God’s word we learn that a home full of quietness and peace are much better than a house loaded with feasting but full of  and arguments and conflict.
Peace between people requires establishing mutual trust. Trust is built through listening and understanding - not necessarily agreeing with the other person. Listening without judging is necessary.
A useful focus to aim for when listening to another person is to try to understand him/her, how the other person feels, and to discover what the other person wants to achieve.
The late Dr. Stephen Covey ( 'The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People'® ) is one of many modern advocates who urge us to strive deeply to understand the other person's point of view through empathic listening (also called active listening or reflective listening).

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. I praise You and glorify You.
LORD, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can
listen with empathy, to understand other people, not to judge them, and to be slow to wrath. Help me to control what I say and purify what I think.  I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I pray in His Holy Name. To Him be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.
