November 23 Devotion - The God of All Comfort

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.
 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

We need to always remember especially when we are going through periods of severe pain that our God is The God of all comfort. Jesus understands our heartache, rejection and pain because He himself went through it. Our Saviour stands as the Great High Priest offering us mercy and grace.  The Holy Spirit, The comforter, who is dwelling within every believer, will remind us of all the promises of God and encourage us and channel the love of Jesus to sustain us.

I invite you to repeat the following  prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and deep everlasting love. Lord teach me to depend on You totally and to call out Your name always in praise and thanksgiving, especially during the difficult, painful, dark and desperate periods of life. Strengthen me Abba so that I can transfer Your comfort which I receive, to those who are suffering. Jesus, Prince of Peace, I rejoice that You long to comfort and encourage me and I thank You that in the midst of my tribulations, You are my rock. In the mighty name of Jesus; my Lord and Saviour; The King of kings and Lord of lords, in The Holy Name of Your only begotten Son Jesus, I pray to You Father. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty and the dominion forever and ever and unto ages of all ages. Amen.

November 20 Devotion - Be swift to hear

Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Proverbs 17:1
Proverbs 18
James 1:19

Through God’s word we learn that quietness and peace are much better than a house full of feasting and arguments and conflict. Peace between people requires establishing mutual trust .Trust is about listening and understanding - not necessarily agreeing (which is different) - to the other person. Listening without judging is necessary.
A useful focus to aim for when listening to another person is to try to understand him/her, how the other person feels, and to discover what the other person wants to achieve.
The late Dr. Stephen Covey (of 'The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People'® fame) is one of many modern advocates who urge us to strive deeply to understand the other person's point of view through empathic listening (also called active listening or reflective listening).

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and Your everlasting, deep and inseparable love for me. God I praise You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high and glorify Your Holy Name.
Lord help me to listen with empathy, to understand other people, not to judge them, and to be slow to wrath. Help me to control what I say and purify what I think. Amen.

November 18 Devotion - God Shall Supply All Your Need

My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and Your everlasting, deep and inseparable love for me. God I praise You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high and glorify Your Holy Name. Lord, You know all my needs and You have promised to provide them when I seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Teach me not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Help me to transfer my anxieties to Christ and to ‘help’ You by letting You be God and I Your faithful servant and friend. I rejoice in the victorious thought that You are taking care of me and You have never failed to keep any of Your promises. God, I leave all my present and future needs at Your alter for I know You are faithful, omniscient, and love me perfectly. Amen.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
28 And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Matthew 6:25–34

November 17 Devotion - God is Spirit

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:24

God The Father, is Spirit and is therefore omnipresent. He is present everywhere. We should worship Him due to His nature and perfection.  The nature of God is an eternal, immense and infinite Spirit. God is The creator of all spirits.

Worshiping God must spring from the heart, through the influence of the Holy Spirit. I believe we would be considered worshiping God in spirit, when we are guided by The Holy Spirit, and we present our requests to The throne of God. We would be considered worshiping Him in truth, when our worship is guided and regulated by The Word of God.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and Your everlasting, deep and inseparable love for me. Lord You are worthy of my worship and praise. I am in awe of Your nature and perfection and lift You up on high. Thank You for creating my spirit and adopting me into Your family. LORD, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I may worship You in spirit and in truth and declare to the world that Jesus is my Lord and Saviour. In the Holy Name of Jesus I pray. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Jesus loves you,
In Him,
