March 29 Devotion - The Humbled and Exalted Christ

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

Philippians 2:5-9

Many of us wish and strive to be Christ-like. We learn from the above scriptures that Jesus was obedient, humble, and loving. He loved us and died on the cross in our place. He offers us the opportunity to be forgiven, redeemed, and declared righteous in the eyes of God, by accepting Him as our Saviour and declaring Him as Lord over our lives.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father thank You for Your abundant blessings. Help me LORD, give me wisdom, and teach me to be Christ-like, through the Holy Spirit. Help me to be humble and ‘Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of my mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.’ Ephesians 4:29 Strengthen me Abba Father to ‘get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, and slander, along with every form of malice. Teach me to be kind and compassionate to others, forgiving them, just as Christ God forgave me.’ Ephesians 4:31-32

March 28 Devotion - We are witnesses of Christ

“But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:8

We each have a role to talk about the good news and the truth about Jesus to all those who do not believe and/or do not know the good news and the truth. Do you know anyone whom you can help? Even if you just forward devotions to them, that is a beginning.

Here is the good news:

“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:16

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Thank You Father that You have given me power through The Holy Spirit so that I can be a witness to You. Expand my focus Jesus and bring me into harmony with Your divine purpose of reaching the world with the good news of the Gospel and the truth about Your identity. Jesus, I pray that You continue to strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can help others to believe in You and feel your presence in their lives. Thank You Lord for loving me with a deep and everlasting love, thank You for Your abundant blessings in my life. God, I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your Holy Name. Now to Him who is able to carry out His purpose and do infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Ephesians 3:20-21 (AMP) Amen.

March 27 Devotion - Be devoted to prayer

Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.  Be unceasing and persistent in prayer; First of all, then, I urge that petitions (specific requests), prayers, intercessions (prayers for others) and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all people, constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ], steadfast and patient in distress, devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength], In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words.

Colossians 4:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, 1 Timothy 2:1, Romans 12:12, Romans 8:26

Prayer allows us to worship and praise the Lord. He is personal, cares for us, and wants to commune with us through prayer. Prayer is also an act of obedience. Communicating with God through prayer allows us to offer confession of our sins, which should lead to our genuine repentance. Through prayer we have the opportunity to present our requests to God. All of these aspects of prayer involve communication with our creator. As we witnessed in our relationships with others without communication, relationships suffer. In the same way when we do not communicate with God through prayer our fellowship with God is diminished. Let us rekindle our relationship with God by praying in unison.

I invite you to repeat the following  prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can pray without ceasing with an attitude of thanksgiving. Help me to pray for others and teach me to pray out loud with others. Thank You Lord that The Holy Spirit comes to me in my weakness when I do not know what to pray for and guides me. Help me Lord to present to You my needs in prayer (even though You know before I ask) so as to strengthen my relationship with You Jesus. Deliver us Father God through our healer Jesus Christ. Abba Father, I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your holy name.I thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, and Your abundant blessings in my life. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I pray in His holy name. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

 In Him,

March 24 Devotion - Jesus Sets Boundaries

But the news about Him was spreading farther, and large crowds kept gathering to hear Him and to be healed of their illnesses. 16 But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray [in seclusion].

Luke 5:15-16

Many people are sensitive-hearted and prone to take on other people’s problems. If they don’t have clear personal boundaries and limits they get weighed down and walked on. Eventually they start having problems with anger, resentment, stress overload, or burn out. They just can’t continue being so helpful and caring all the time and at the expense of their personal needs.

Is it okay to set boundaries in relationships? Is it healthy to set boundaries in relationships? Did Jesus set boundaries in dealing with people? The answer to these three questions is a definite YES.

Many health professionals insist that one of the most vital components to creating a healthy and fulfilling relationship is to set clear and agreed to boundaries in relationships. In simple terms, boundaries are the thing that keeps us separate from the other person. The boundaries are what set the place between where you end and the other person begins.

Jesus had personal needs that he put priority on — sometimes even over the needs of other people — and he did so without feeling guilty. Primarily His personal soul care had to do with separating himself from people to be alone with God.

Jesus said no to inappropriate behaviour:

When the demands on Him from the crowd crossed His needs to be with His Father, He withdrew from the crowds.

Jesus said no to Peter and the disciples who had an inappropriate agenda for Jesus as a political king or military warrior rather than a sacrificial lamb.

But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on things of God, but on things of man.”

Matthew 16:23

There are many more examples of Jesus setting boundaries in The Bible and we need to learn that it is Christian to set boundaries and protect ourselves and our emotions, and teach others (children, friends, coworkers, loved ones, parents) their boundaries so as to set the place between where you end and the other person begins, leading to healthier win-win relationships.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can learn to set boundaries in my life and in my relationships with others. Help me to be prepared through the guidance of The Holy Spirit to answer all accusations or attempts to make me feel guilty because I am setting healthy boundaries. Teach me to be firm but courteous and respectful in my answers, explaining to others that setting boundaries is a win for them as well and we can live in a win-win relationship with respect. Help me Lord to push back those who have by force pushed on my boundary line during the years; without allowing my emotions to be in play; but to let The Holy Spirit think for me and speak through me. Thank You Father for Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Father God, I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son, my Redeemer, Lord, and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

In Him,

March 23 Devotion - God is the rock and strength of my heart

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the rock and strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:26

A lesson I believe we can all learn is that if we are looking to the love or appreciation of another person to solve our problem(s) then this could be an indication to us that the problem lies within us and is not one that the other’s love or appreciation can solve.

There could be something deep within us that needs healing. Until that “something” is identified, addressed, and healed we will not be in a healthy position either to receive love fully or to give love generously.

We need to come to God and express our feelings. We need to ask Him to reveal the real nature of the problem(s) and to heal us of its root cause through the Holy Spirit.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, my flesh, and my heart are failing, and I need You to strengthen me through Your Spirit in my inner being so that I can identify the problems within me and their root causes and ask Your Holy Spirit to heal me. God You are the rock and strength of my heart and my portion forever. Lord you are the only true healer, restore me and make me whole so that I can love and be loved fully. Thank You Father God for Your abundant blessings and Your deep, inseparable love for me. In the name of the King of kings and Lord of lords, in the holy name of Jesus I pray. To Jesus be the glory, the majesty, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

March 22 Devotion - The God of All Comfort

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5

We need to always remember especially when we are going through periods of severe pain that our God is The God of all comfort. Jesus understands our heartaches, rejection, and pain because He himself went through it. Our Saviour stands as the Great High Priest offering us mercy and grace.  The Holy Spirit, The comforter, who is dwelling within every believer, will remind us of all the promises of God and encourage us and channel the love of Jesus to sustain us.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can depend on You totally and to call out Your name always in praise and thanksgiving, especially during the difficult, painful, dark , and desperate periods of life. Strengthen me Abba so that I can transfer Your comfort which I receive, to those who are suffering. Jesus, I rejoice that in the midst of my tribulations, You are my rock. Abba Father, thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I pray in His holy name. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

March 21 Devotion - FREE TO REJOICE

But if it is by grace (God’s unmerited favor and graciousness), it is no longer conditioned on works or anything men have done. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace [it would be meaningless].

Romans 11:6

‘Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.’

John 15:13-15

We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s likeness (Romans 3:23). But Jesus’ death on the cross removed our collective death penalty once and for all. Therefore, we are now secure in Him. We are free to rejoice.

God gave you this great gift because:

  • He has something wonderful in mind for your life (Jeremiah 29:11).
  • He wants you to accomplish great things for His kingdom and to share the joy of your faith with others (Matthew 28:18–20).
  • God designed you for a purpose when He formed you in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13).
  • God wants you to feel free to rejoice. (Philippians 4:4).

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Jesus, please help me to feel free to rejoice because You have paid my sin debt in full. Thank You Jesus that You love me so much that You consider me Your friend. Thank You LORD that You have designed a wonderful life for me. Thank You that You have enabled me to accomplish great things for Your Kingdom and that I get the opportunity to share the joy of my faith with others that You have put on my path. Thank You Father that You want me to rejoice and to rejoice always. Now to Him who is able to carry out His purpose and do infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Ephesians 3:20-21 AMP Amen.

March 20 Devotion - When I feel sad console me Lord

O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you.

Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.

Isaiah 33:2

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.”

John 14:1

My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

Psalm 138:7, Psalm 119:50, Psalm 94:19

Comfort me Lord through The Holy Spirit and Your words….

The Lord is near to you because you have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:17-20

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

All things will work together for good for you because you love God, Romans 8:28   Make sure to rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, console me O’Lord and let not my heart be troubled. Let my trust in You overcome any burden. I depend on Your right hand to save me and Your promises to comfort me in my confusion, sadness, and suffering. I long to feel your consolation and joy and I confidently await your mercies. Father God, I thank you for knowing every emotion I go through and for having an answer and support for me today. Strengthen me Lord to be of good courage. Thank You Lord that during my period of weakness Your strength is made perfect. Help me Lord to pray continuously. I rejoice in the assurance that You are with me God wherever I am, that all things will work together for good for me, and that I will rejoice because Your peace God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus; in whose mighty holy name I pray. To Jesus be the power, the majesty, the glory, and the authority forever and ever. Amen.

March 17 Devotion - God is Spirit

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

John 4:24

God The Father is Spirit and is therefore omnipresent. He is present everywhere. We should worship Him due to His nature and perfection.  The nature of God is an eternal, immense and infinite Spirit. God is the creator of all spirits.

A. Worshipping in Spirit

I believe we would be considered worshipping God in spirit, when we are guided by The Holy Spirit, and we present our requests to the throne of God through our mediator Jesus Christ. Worshipping God must spring from the heart, through the influence of the Holy Spirit.

This is in accordance with [the terms of] the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him [that is, our faith gives us sufficient courage to freely and openly approach God through Christ]

Ephesians 3:11-12 AMP

B. Worshipping in Truth

We would be considered worshipping God in truth when our worship is guided and regulated by The Word of God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

John 1:1-4

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for the riches of Your grace upon my life. LORD, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I may worship You in spirit and in truth. Let all my prayers Lord be guided by The Holy Spirit and by Your Word. Thank You God that I can present my prayers to Your throne of grace with boldness and confidence through faith in Your only begotten Son, my Lord, and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.
