April 28 Devotion - Knowing God through His Names - Part 4 - Jehovah Shalom

Jehovah Shalom: “The Lord is Peace.” Points to the Lord as the means of our peace and rest. The name given by Gideon to the altar he built after the Angel of the Lord assured him he would not die as he thought he would after seeing Him.

Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah shalom: The-Lord-Is-Peace.

Judges 6:24

Peace expresses the deepest desire and need of the human heart. It represents the greatest measure of harmony, contentment, and satisfaction in life. The Person of Jehovah is our Peace.

Jehovah has a desire to give us His peace:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

Jesus is the supplier of peace to the Christian, and He is our Jehovah-Shalom. There is no peace besides that which can come by way of Christ. There is no other way. Know Jesus - Know Peace. No Jesus - No Peace. When we have a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus; He becomes our Jehovah-Shalom - the One who brings the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

 Philippians 4:6

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’

John 14:27

When we invite Christ to come into our lives, He dominates our heart, and we feel true peace.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, my LORD Jehovah Shalom, help me to build an alter for You in my heart where Your peace God, which transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus. I pray Jehovah Shalom that I will not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, I will present my requests to You LORD. Thank You Father God for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Jesus I long for Your peace and I pray in Your holy name Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. To Jesus be the glory, the power, the majesty, and the dominion before all time, and now, and forevermore. Amen.

April 27 Devotion - Knowing God through His Names - Part 3 - Jehovah Rapha

Jehovah Rapha: "The Lord Who Heals" both in body and spirit. In body, by preserving from and curing diseases, and in spirit, by pardoning iniquities.

…For I am the Lord who heals you.

Who forgives all your iniquities,

Who heals all your diseases,

Exodus 15:26

Psalms 103:3

Jehovah Rapha, the Great Physician heals physical, spiritual & emotional ills. Although physical healing is important, man's greater need is for healing of human relationships and our spiritual connection with God. We need to be willing to bring every part of our lives to submission to Christ and allow Him in His own wisdom to bring about what His purpose is at this time.

God has given us information in the book of Leviticus on the prevention and treatment of disease. I believe there is definitely a large role given to medications, physicians and living in a healthy way.

Will everyone be physically healed? In the scripture we see that Jesus did not heal everyone. Every one of us has an ailment that we would love to be cured of, some more serious than others. We may be healed if God in His sovereign wisdom chooses that healing is the best thing for us in this situation. Sometimes our illness is a means for whatever reason by which God’s purposes will continue to be worked out and fulfilled in our lives.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself and others:

Abba Father, my LORD Jehovah Elgibhor, fight all my battles for me and give me peace Jehovah Shalom. Heal my body and my spirit my Jehovah Rapha. Lord, give me enough faith to receive Your healing. Lord, I pray for all those who are sick and afflicted and for their families. God, give us health and perseverance, help us to go through the tough times knowing You are carrying us. Adonai, thank You for Your inseparable, unfailing, deep, and everlasting love for me and Your abundant blessings in my life. As You taught us Jesus, in Your prayers to The Father, Your will be done Jehovah. I declare Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and pray in His Holy Name. To Him be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings before all time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

April 26 Devotion - Knowing God through His Names - Part 2 - Jehovah Jireh

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Every time we hear the word Yahweh, or every time we see LORD in the English Bible, this is a proper name built out of the word for “I am” and reminding us each time that God absolutely is.

Compounds of Yahweh (or Jehovah in English): are designations or titles which reveal additional facts about God’s character.

Jehovah Jireh (Yireh): “The Lord will provide.” Stresses God’s provision for His people. The name memorialized by Abraham when God provided the ram to be sacrificed in place of his son Isaac.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.

Genesis 22:13-14 King James Version (KJV)

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19

For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

Psalm 91:11

As God provided for Abraham and as we are promised that God shall supply all our needs, physical, emotional and spiritual, I and you should live a worry-free life in complete dependence on God and in total awareness that He is our provider, to the point that God has appointed angels to keep us in all our ways. We may be tried as Abraham was but not necessarily to that deep of a trial; however we have total confidence that we shall evolve victorious because God is our provider.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Jehovah Jireh, I thank You for providing for me all my life and I know I can depend on You to continue providing because You are Jehovah Jireh my provider. In the name of The King of kings and Lord of lords, in the Holy Name of Jesus my Lord and Saviour, I pray. To Jesus be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings before all time and now and forevermore.

April 12 Devotion - WALKING WISELY

What one thing would you ask of God if you knew absolutely that it would not be refused? Solomon had such a choice. After David died, he became King over Israel and while he was at a place called Gibeon the Lord appeared to him in a dream during the night.

"God said; 'Ask! What shall I give you?”

I Kings 3:5

Solomon prayed for:

"Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"

I Kings 3:9

Solomon was asking for wisdom to be a good King. The Bible says:

The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.

I Kings 3:10

The Lord was so pleased with Solomon's request that he said:

"See, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you."

I Kings 3:12

Solomon became the wisest man that ever lived. But that isn't all. God told him that because he had asked for wisdom instead of long life, riches or the life of his enemies:

"I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days."

I Kings 3:13

You may want to ask yourself: what is really in my heart?

It may surprise you in the end that God gives you what you ask for - and maybe even all that you did not ask. Just like Solomon! Solomon's prayer was a great one because his heart was right when he prayed it. Listen to God's promise for those who have such hearts:

"I dwell in the high and holy place; With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones."

Isaiah 57:15
The Apostle Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom:

15 Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere, 16 I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, 17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. 22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself. Ephesians 1:15-23

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.

James 1:5

April 10 Devotion - Jesus' Resurrection

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Peter, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once.

1 Corinthians 15: 3-5

The fact that Jesus rose from the dead is vital to Christians because our justification depends on it.

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Romans 4:25

A dead Saviour cannot save, but we have a living Saviour who justifies us and makes intercession for us.

Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them

Hebrews 7:25

Although different denominations differ on the date of the resurrection of Christ because they use different calendars, Jesus’ resurrection is not a denominational issue or a point for theological debate. Either we believe Christ rose from the dead and ascended to heaven or we do not. If we reject His victory over the grave, we deny ourselves a place in eternity.

Believing that the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead is essential for Christians, because merely recognizing that He died for our sins is not enough; we must accept His resurrection in order to receive eternal life. Christ paid our debt, but His sacrifice on the cross means nothing if He possesses no power over the grave. In vanquishing evil and death, the Lord made our salvation possible. Jesus’ resurrection proved He was able to remove sin and its penalty.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour, and I know that I know that I know in my heart that God raised You from the dead. Jesus, I thank You for saving me through your atoning death on The Cross and Your resurrection , and for making me righteous in the eyes of God our Father. Thank You Jesus, that because I believe in Your resurrection, I am granted eternal life. Abba Father, thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Father God, I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your holy name. I pray in Jesus’ holy name to You Father. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

April 7 Devotion - Good Friday - The Cross

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. 21 And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death.

Acts 2:20-23

Christ's suffering on the cross was fore-ordained and was the only payment of our debt that God would accept—this is the great sacrifice on which the eternal life of believers depends. If Christ had not gone to the cross and suffered in our place, the just for the unjust, there would not have been a spark of hope for us. There would have been a mighty chasm between us and God, which no man ever could have crossed.

Please listen and watch: https://youtu.be/MPmGcridHQ8

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You Lord thank You for loving me so much that You let Your Son die on the cross to redeem me, a sinner. As Jesus said:Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13 God, I thank You, praise You, glorify You and lift you up on high. Strengthen me Lord through The Holy Spirit, so that that I may walk in such a way that is fully pleasing to You and is fruitful in every good work. Thank You Jesus for dying in my place and that through The Cross I am redeemed, forgiven, justified, reconciled to God, sanctified, and glorified. In Your Holy Name Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, I pray.  To Jesus be the glory, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

April 6 Devotion - Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper

When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. 15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.”

Luke 22: 14-20

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

John 6:53-58

The flesh and blood of the Son of man, denote the Redeemer in the nature of man; Christ and Him crucified, and the redemption created by Him, with all the precious benefits of redemption; pardon of sin, acceptance with God, the way to the throne of grace, the promises of the covenant, and eternal life. These are called the flesh and blood of Christ because they are purchased by the breaking of His body, and the shedding of His blood. Also, because they are food and drink to our souls.

Eating this flesh and drinking this blood means believing in Christ. We partake of Christ and His benefits by faith. The soul that rightly knows its state and wants, finds whatever can calm the conscience, and promote true holiness, in The Redeemer, God manifest in the flesh. Meditating upon the Cross of Christ gives life to our repentance, love, and gratitude. We live by Him, as our bodies live by our food. We live by Him, as the members by the head, the branches by the root: because He lives (resurrected) we shall live also. (Adapted from Mathew Henry’s explanation of the Bible).

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for the riches of Your grace upon my life which allows me to be forgiven through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on my behalf. Through Your redemption Jesus I also receive the precious benefits of redemption, pardon of sin, acceptance with God, the way to the Throne of Grace, the promises of the covenant, and eternal life. Thank You Jesus for suffering on my behalf, I believe in You and declare You my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for Your body which is given for us and for the new covenant of grace through Your blood which was shed for us. God, I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your Holy Name. Thank You Father for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, and Your abundant blessings in my life. Now to Him who is able to carry out His purpose and do infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Ephesians 3:20-21 (AMP) Amen.

In Him,

April 5 Devotion - When others mistreat us

We work [for our living], working hard with our own hands. When we are reviled (abused; attacked with evil words) and verbally abused, we bless. When we are persecuted, we take it patiently and endure.

1 Corinthians 4:12 AMP

As we approach Good Friday, we reflect on what Jesus went through for us, mistreatment, pain, suffering, humiliation and worst of all separation from His Father while on the cross as He took oh the sins of the world.

As we go through a period of being mistreated, we are taught to endure. Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing; it is the ability to turn it into glory. We have all probably discovered that the hardest times to remember the basic truths of God’s Word are during periods of pain and/or difficulty. With the right attitude we can make it a habit to view every situation through the filter of God’s perspective.

And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose

Romans 8:28 AMP

If we believe that God will bring good out of any situation somehow, then pessimistic thinking will not find a permanent home in our hearts. When we adopt the right attitude all the time, our emotions will gradually align with our beliefs. Let us remind ourselves that the Lord will give us His perspective if we ask Him to.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can have Your divine perspective and the right attitude. Keep me away Lord from discouragement, worry, and self-sufficiency. Lord, please help me to focus on You instead of my circumstances. Your promises are true Lord, and I am confident that You will change all my circumstances to work for Your glory and my good, joy and peace. Father God, I thank You that You love me and that Your love is unfailing, steadfast, deep, and everlasting. Thank You Father for Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. I will rejoice in The Lord. In the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ I pray. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,
