November 22 Devotion - A Change of Plans

For You are my rock and my fortress;
Therefore, for Your name’s sake,
Lead me and guide me.

Psalm 31:3

Recalculating…….If you use a Global Positioning System (GPS) you are probably used to hearing this phrase. If you do not follow the exact route or there is construction on the way, or a roadblock, the system senses your position (location) and starts sending you new ways to reach your destination.  While we are used to this we sometimes face: cannot find satellites and we feel lost.

In our life, I believe we need to be open to a change in plans if we sense God moving us in another direction and follow God’s Planning System (GPS) for He will lead us and guide us, and all we need to do is just trust Him because He is our rock on which we stand and He protects us in His fortress. We connect to Him through our prayers and we never need to feel lost with Him guiding us.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You, I glorify You and I rejoice in You. Lord, please help me become flexible and obedient. I sometimes feel confused between what I desire and what You may want, as I sense that You may be guiding me to move in another direction. Help me to stay connected to You, to hear Your voice and to know for sure Your plan for me and the direction You want me to follow. I need Your wisdom God, please sort out the truth in my mind and heart and lead me and guide me to do Your will for You are my rock and my fortress. Jesus, in Your Holy name I pray. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.’ Ephesians 3:20-21

November 20 and 21 Devotion - Joy Fulfilled

“I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10 And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. 13 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world,

that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves….

20I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word.”

John 17:9-20

Jesus is praying for you and me and for all other believers who have declared Him as their Lord and Saviour. He is requesting from The Father that we may experience Jesus’ delight fulfilled in us, and that Jesus’ enjoyment be perfected in our souls. He requests that our hearts be filled with His gladness.
Why do some followers of Christ feel this joy so strongly and others do not? That is a question that has been intriguing me for years! Do you have an answer? If so please post it on the comment section of my blog, so that we can all see it.
Feeling joyful is what everyone wants, and we believers should be the most joyful, for our salvation is guaranteed through Christ. The Apostle Paul said
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Philippians 4:4

In a previous devotion regarding joy, I wrote: … now I understand that the Apostle Paul felt God’s grace so powerfully that it overshadowed all the negative feelings of being chained in a Roman prison to the point that he actually felt joy.’

So if we need to feel God’s grace in order to feel joy what is stopping us from feeling it since Jesus requested that we feel it.

The only answer that I have come up with is that we are somehow blocking it. Blockers may be: fear, wrong paradigms, and wrong programs running in our still “un-renewed minds”.

We need to “see” ourselves joyful so that we can unblock this state and feel the joy Jesus intends for us to feel. Jesus said:

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Mark 11:24

We need to believe that we will/are/can be joyful, and we will be joyful, and Jesus’ joy will be fulfilled in us. We need to visualize and meditate on seeing ourselves joyful all the time.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You, I thank You, I glorify You and I rejoice in You. Thank You Jesus for praying for me to The Father. Heavenly Father I long to experience Jesus’ delight fulfilled in me, and Jesus’ enjoyment perfected in my soul. I long to have my heart filled with His gladness. Fill me God totally and envelop me with Your Grace, so that I can feel an inner joy independent of circumstances. Jesus You said: “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” John 15:11
Jesus I long for and pray that Your Joy remain in me and that my Joy be full and that I always rejoice in You. Jesus, in Your Holy name I pray. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

November 19 Devotion - Amen (so be it)

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter1:5-8

I read the above scripture as a roadmap to be fruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The Apostle Peter outlines that we should make every effort to complement our faith with several dimensions, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. We start with complementing our faith with good character and moral excellence; and in exercising moral excellence we should develop our spiritual knowledge and intelligence. As we apply our spiritual knowledge we should develop alert discipline and self-control. By applying our self-control we develop patience and endurance and thus develop reverence and piety. As we exercise reverence, we develop warm friendliness and brotherly affection toward others. In exercising brotherly affection and friendliness toward others we develop Christian love.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. LORD, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I am fruitful unto the knowledge of my Lord, Jesus Christ. Please Lord give me moral excellence so that my character is seen as good in your eyes; sharpen my spiritual and emotional intelligence; help me master my self-control and grant me an acute ability for discipline. Help me to be patiently impatient to develop piety and reverence for You. Lord, I long to develop warm friendliness and brotherly affection and Christian love toward others. Jesus, in Your Holy name I pray.
To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

November 15 Devotion - Everlasting Life

The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

John 3:35-36

When we have faith in, cling to and rely on Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, we possess eternal life. But whoever is unbelieving toward Jesus and refuses to trust in Him, disregards Him or is not subject to the Son will never experience life, but instead the wrath of God abides on him.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Lord, may Your love endure forever in my heart. Help me Lord to regulate my life and conduct myself in union with and conformity to Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour. Strengthen me Lord to have the roots of my being firmly and deeply planted in Jesus and to be fixed and founded in Him and be continually built up in Him. Help me Father to become increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
‘Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.’ Ephesians 3:20-21

November 13 Devotion - God's Glory

May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in His works—

Psalm 104:31

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Lord, may Your glory endure forever in my heart and on my lips, in my soul, mind, actions, feeling and spirit. Help me God to follow Jesus and become Christ- Like so that Your heart will rejoice in what You have done in me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. ‘Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. November 12 Devotion - Absolute dependence on God

For in Him we live and move and have our being
Acts 17:28
We have a constant and absolute dependence on God and He is continually sustaining us.
Our absolute dependence in God is such that we owe to him the ability to perform even the slightest motion. We owe to Him our continued and prolonged existence.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Lord, thank You for Your gifts from the lowest pulsation of life to the highest powers of action and of continued existence. God, I acknowledge my constant and absolute dependence on You for in You Lord I live and move and have my being.

November 9 Devotion - The Compass versus the Clock

The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.
Psalm 119:130
Amplified Bible (AMP)

Do you prioritize your schedule or do you schedule your priorities?

When you look at your schedule and put priorities to what is outlined for you, you are using time management and you are using the clock. When you identify what is important in your life or work and make sure you are scheduling your priorities, you are using the compass and are making sure your mission in life is coming to fruition.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the obligations of everyday life and we are so busy doing so many good things that there isn't time for the most important thing, having a personal relationship with our Saviour through reading God’s word, meditating on it and praying.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Lord, I ask for Your wisdom to help me schedule Your priorities and the most important of which is my personal relationship with You. Lord help me to surrender to You and to give You my attention, time, mind, will and emotions. Lead me Lord in all my decisions and actions. Let the unfolding of Your words give me light; discernment and comprehension.

The Peace of God

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

1 Peter 5:7

Psalm 4:8

Trying circumstances often are the biggest inhibitors of experiencing the peace of God. The situation is in God’s hands. He is in control despite appearances. He is able to bring about a solution, whenever and however He chooses.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Thank You Lord that in You I can dwell in safety. Lord, teach me to cast my burdens and anxiety on You in prayer, to tell You what bothers me and robs my joy and peace, and to have a strong faith that You heard and will answer. I want to experience Your peace. Heavenly Father, when the pressures mount today, help me to remember that You have taken all my cares upon Yourself. I cast my anxiety and burdens on You, knowing that everything is in Your care. In the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus The Christ, the only begotten Son of God, I pray. Amen.
‘Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.’ Ephesians 3:20-21

November 7 Devotion - A Fixed Purpose

Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you.

Proverbs 4:25 Amplified Bible (AMP)

While peripheral vision, or seeing things from the corner of your eye, is a good thing for driving, it is not good when you want to be a follower of Jesus as you need to have directional vision seeing only Jesus and not the lusts of the world. That’s why Proverbs 4:25 tells us that we need to look straight ahead toward Christ because in the spiritual, like the natural, whatever we focus our mind and heart on, we move toward. Jesus told us:

The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is sound, your entire body will be full of light.

Matthew 6:22

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Lord Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way Psalm 119:37 Help me Lord to keep my eyes on Jesus and not on my problems nor on the lusts of the world. Teach me to be steadfast in my faith. Father God, I want my fixed purpose to be: to become Christlike. Please let my eyes be sound and fill my whole body with the light of The Holy Spirit.

November 5 Devotion - We Are Chosen

Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.
I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
Ephesians 1:4, John10:10 Amplified Bible (AMP)

As a born again Christian who has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; according to the above scripture; God chose you before the world was formed, He knew you.

You are called to a fullness of life which far exceeds the dimensions of your earthly existence, because it consists in sharing the very life of God.

Not only has He chosen you, but He has equipped you with everything you need to live His abundant life.

In order to be all that God has called you to be, you have to see yourself as chosen, valuable, and victorious.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Lord, thank You that You have picked me as Your own in Christ even before the foundation of the earth and that through Christ’s blood You consider me blameless in Your sight. Help me Lord to understand my value as it stems from You and to rise up higher and higher into the abundant life of victory and joy You have prepared for me. Father, help me to see myself as chosen, valuable and victorious. Lord, show me Your ways that I may be holy (consecrated and set apart for You) and walk with You in confidence and trust all the days of my life.

November 1 Devotion - In Time of Need

Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him].

Hebrews 4:14

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16

An example of a time of need is when we are experiencing adversity.  The definition of adversity as per the dictionary is:

1. A state of hardship; distress; or affliction

2. An unfortunate event or incident

Adversity can be handled one of two ways. Either we can deal with it on our own, or we can allow God to carry our burden for us. The first requires human strength and effort, which are rarely sufficient in handling grievous trials. Heartache erodes human ability.

The wiser course of action is to allow God to handle our adversities. His ability to provide goes beyond our greatest imagination. He is the God who has the ability to calm every storm.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Lord, thank You that in Your divine love, wisdom, grace and mercy You have allowed me to come directly to You through our High Priest Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour and eliminated the need for anyone else to intercede for me. Thank You that You instruct me to come boldly to the Throne of Grace, and find help when I need it the most. Jesus in Your name I pray, help me to hold fast to my faith in You and surrender to You and to leave all my troubles at the foot of Your Cross for You to handle for me. Amen.
‘Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.’ Ephesians 3:20-21
