December 4 Devotion - In Time of Need

Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him].
Hebrews 4:14
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16
An example of a time of need is when we are experiencing adversity.  The definition of adversity as per the dictionary is:
1. A state of hardship; distress; or affliction
2. An unfortunate event or incident
Adversity can be handled one of two ways. Either we can deal with it on our own, or we can allow God to carry our burden for us. The first requires human strength and effort, which are rarely sufficient in handling grievous trials. Heartache erodes human ability.
The wiser course of action is to allow God to handle our adversities. His ability to provide goes beyond our greatest imagination. He is the God who has the ability to calm every storm.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, I praise You and glorify You. Lord, thank You that in Your divine love, wisdom, grace and mercy You have allowed me to come directly to You through our High Priest Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour and eliminated the need for anyone else to intercede for me. Thank You that You instruct me to come boldly to the Throne of Grace, and find help when I need it the most. Jesus in Your name I pray, help me to hold fast to my faith in You and surrender to You and to leave all my troubles at the foot of Your Cross for You to handle for me. Amen.
‘Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.’ Ephesians 3:20-21

December 3 Devotion - While we were still sinners, Christ died for us

When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, "Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?" 17And hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Mark 2:16-17

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
With God, through Christ, there is mercy to pardon the greatest sins, and grace to change the greatest sinners, and make them holy. Jesus came to help us sinners, and while we were still sinners He died for us.

Living the Christian life is impossible on our own. Trying to live the Christian life by our own efforts is like a ship on dry land…just doesn’t work very well. For the ship to get anywhere, it needs to be resting on the water. And to enjoy the Christian life, we need to learn how to rest in God. Paul knew this:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

Some people believe they have to be good first before coming to Christ and they have to be ready not to sin once they come to Christ. Jesus is telling us He come for us sinners and while we were still sinners He died for us. We can only live the Christian life through Jesus strengthening us. We have been given someone to enable us to live the Christian life – the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of Christ – come to live in the body of every believer who has accepted Jesus as his/her Saviour and Lord over their life. Do not wait to be perfect to invite Jesus into your heart, it is through Jesus that you can be perfected.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and inseparable love. Lord, through Your Word and the guidance of The Holy Spirit help me to learn from Jesus and to take the Yoke Jesus offers. Jesus, come to me like You came to Your disciples walking on the water through the storm and redeem and strengthen me spiritually, emotionally and physically and give me rest. Lord, I choose to see Your loving arms wrapped around me lifting me up to safety, provision, and peace. I thank You that You are a reliable and trustworthy God and You promised that You will never leave me nor forsake me, and I know that You are faithful. I choose today to concentrate on You, to hold fast my confession that Jesus is my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I trust and pray in Your Holy name. To Him be the power, the glory and the dominion forever and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Jesus love you,
In Him,

December 2 Devotion - By God's Grace not by our works

"I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
 «الْحَقَّ الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكَ: لاَ أَحَدَ يُمْكِنُهُ أَنْ يَرَى مَلَكُوتَ اللهِ إِلاَّ إِذَا وُلِدَ مِنْ جَدِيدٍ».
John 3:3-7

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Your role
1. Something to admit:
That you have sinned in the sight of God. (we all have)
2. Something to believe:
That Jesus Christ died on the cross bearing all the guilt and penalty of your sin.

3. Something to do:

Accept Jesus Christ to be Lord over your life, your Saviour to cleanse you, your friend to guide and be with you.

Revelation 3:20. Jesus is speaking, `Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him...
Jesus Christ waits outside the door of your life. He will not force his way in. He wants to be asked in. The handle of the door is on the inside; only you can open the door.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and inseparable love. Lord, In Your great mercy You have not given me the penalty I deserve. By Your grace You have given me what I do not deserve; forgiveness of my sins and reconciliation with You God through the atoning blood of Jesus shed for me on The Cross. Lord, I repent of my sins and put my faith in Jesus The Saviour and Lord. Thank You that You have given me a new birth into a living hope. I am born again to a new life as God’s child. Praise be to You. Thank you for making it clear to me that only those who receive Jesus—not merely know about Him— but rely on Him for salvation, submitting to Him as Master, and loving Him as the supreme treasure—become God’s children. For by grace I have been saved through faith, and that not of myself; it is Your gift God, it is not by my good works, lest I should boast. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I pray in His Holy Name. To Him be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.
Jesus loves you,
In Him,

December 1 Devotion -“Jehovah-Jireh” God our Provider

It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Psalm 100:3

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
John 10:11

God has always provided for His people through his unlimited resources. What a fantastic feeling it is to know that God’s love for us is so infinite that Jesus laid down His life to redeem us.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and inseparable love. Thank You Lord that Your power is absolute. Your provision is the alpha and the omega; it extends from the provision for the body to the provision of eternity. Thank You that You always provide for me. Lord, I praise you and glorify You in the name of my Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.
