June 18 Devotion - Why should we love God? - Part 3

In part 1& 2 of this series of devotions we covered the first three reasons for loving God.

Reasons to love God:

1.  

We love Him because He first loved us.

نحن نحبه لانه هو احبنا اولا.

I John 4.19

2.  

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

لانه هكذا احب الله العالم حتى بذل ابنه الوحيد لكي لا يهلك كل من يؤمن به بل تكون له الحياة الابدية.

John 3:16

3.  

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

فَالإِلَهُ الأَبَدِيُّ هُوَ مَلْجَأُكُمْ، وَتَحْتَكُمْ تَنْبَسِطُ الأَذْرُعُ الأَبَدِيَّةُ،

Deuteronomy 33:27 ﺍﻟﺘﺜﻨﻴﺔ

4.

God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect

اللهُ حِصْنِيَ المَنِيْعُ.
يُساعِدُ الأنقياءَ ليسلُكوا الدرب الصحيح،

2 Samuel 22:33 ﺻﻤﻮﺋﻴﻞ ﺍﻟﺜﺎﻧﻲ

We should love God because He is our strength, in Him we are strong. By Him we are guided in our lives. Without Him we would lose our way and also be ‘lost’.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Thank You Lord that You are my strength and You make me walk in the perfect path that You have designed for me. Lord, thank You for loving me; and for loving me first. Lord I want to love You back with an intense love. Lord if there is anything in my life that is keeping me from loving You the way You want me to love You and to be totally committed to You Lord, then please reveal it to me and erase it from my life. Father, please pour Your love into my heart through Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

June 17 Devotion - Why should we love God? - Part 2

In part 1 of this series of devotions we covered the first two reasons for loving God.

Our God is eternal. He is our house in which we are safe and feel relaxed. In Him our soul reposes. He lifts us up from underneath by His everlasting hands which represent the almighty power of God. We trust in Him. In His hands we feel protected and comforted even when we are in the midst of our greatest distresses.  

                 

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. O’ my eternal and almighty God, in You my soul reposes. I put my total trust in You. Protect me and comfort me forever in any situation especially during my greatest distresses. Lord, thank You for loving me; and for loving me first, and with a deep, everlasting, and inseparable love. Lord I want to love You back with an intense love. Lord if there is anything in my life that is keeping me from loving You the way You want me to love You and to be totally committed to You Lord, then please reveal it to me and erase it from my life. Father, please pour Your love into my heart through Your Holy Spirit.  Father I rejoice in Your grace and faithfulness. I praise You, glorify You, and lift You up on high. God I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son; The King of kings and Lord of lords, my Redeemer, Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty and the blessings forever and ever and unto ages of all ages. Amen.

June 14 Devotion - Why should we love God? - Part 1

God’s love for the followers of Christ is an inseparable love. We know that Jesus told us that we should love God.

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment

وتحب الرب الهك من كل قلبك ومن كل نفسك ومن كل فكرك ومن كل قدرتك هذه هي الوصية الاولى

Mark 12:30

I believe that when God gives us a commandment, it is not a matter of control; every commandment is for our own good. Jesus gave us a commandment to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. So why should we love God? Maybe this is a useless question for some, but a central question for others.

We should always do what Jesus tells us to without questioning. I find however that if I seek in the scriptures the reasons He commanded us to love God, I will find the answers. After all Jesus did say seek and you shall find. A good reason to love God is:

We love Him because He first loved us.

How much did He love us? He loved us so much, that He sent His Son to save us by dying in our place and give us everlasting life through our belief in Jesus as our Saviour and by making Him Lord of our lives.

Lord, I want my heart to be fervent toward You and my thoughts to be totally aligned with Your will for me. Father, please pour Your love into my heart through The Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray. To Him be the glory and the power and the dominion forever and ever.. Amen.

June 13 Devotion - God is Faithful

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

لنتمسك باقرار الرجاء راسخا لان الذي وعد هو امين رَكِّزُوا تَفكِيرَكُمْ عَلَى الأُمُورِ السَّماوِيَّةِ، لا عَلَى الأُمُورِ الأرْضِيَّةِ.

Hebrews 10:23, Colossians 3:2

Let us focus on God’s grace and unconditional love for us, let us focus on His power and ability to control all circumstances. Let us focus on His always-listening ear and His always-watchful eye.

When we keep focusing on God, our thoughts about our problems diminish and our hope increases.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love for me and Your abundant blessings.

Lord, I choose to see Your loving arms wrapped around me lifting me up to safety, provision, and peace. I thank You that You are a reliable and trustworthy God and You promised that You will never leave me nor forsake me, and I know that You are faithful. Lord God I praise You, lift You up on high, and glorify You. I choose today to concentrate on You, to hold fast my confession that Jesus is my Lord and Saviour and in His mighty name I pray. Amen.
