April 20 Devotion - Invitation from Christ

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

In this invitation Jesus is inviting several audiences. Those listening to Him and those who in years to come will remember His words and turn to Him. Those listening to Him were the Jews, who groaned under the weight of their ceremonial laws and the traditions of the elders. Jesus tells them that by coming to Him and embracing His teachings they would be freed from these burdensome rites and rituals and be saved through grace because He will give them rest. Jesus also addresses those who are burdened by sin amongst the listeners and along the ages to come, which includes us. We will find relief when we come to Him,

believe in Him, trust Him, and Him only, for salvation. When we do this, He will give us rest - rest from our sins, from the pain of guilt, from the terrors of the law, and from the fears of eternal death. Jesus also invites all of us who are burdened by the challenges and the tribulations of the world to come to Him and lay our ‘problems’ at His feet and seek His rest, peace, and joy.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Jesus, I accept Your invitation to put all my worries and problems at the feet of Your cross. I know that You will give me rest, peace, joy, victory, and fill my heart with Your love, for You died for the forgiveness of my sins and to redeem me and declare me righteous in the eyes of The LORD. Help me Jesus to ‘come’ to You. Thank You Jesus that You are my salvation. Abba Father, I pray to You in the holy name of Jesus. To Jesus be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings forever and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

April 19 Devotion - Jesus' Resurrection

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Peter, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once.

1 Corinthians 15: 3-5

The fact that Jesus rose from the dead is vital to Christians because our justification depends on it.

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Romans 4:25

A dead Saviour cannot save, but we have a living Saviour who justifies us and makes intercession for us.

Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them

Hebrews 7:25

Although different denominations differ on the date of the resurrection of Christ because they use different calendars, Jesus’ resurrection is not a denominational issue or a point for theological debate. Either we believe Christ rose from the dead and ascended to heaven or we do not. If we reject His victory over the grave, we deny ourselves a place in eternity.

Believing that the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead is essential for Christians, because merely recognizing that He died for our sins is not enough; we must accept His resurrection in order to receive eternal life. Christ paid our debt, but His sacrifice on the cross means nothing if He possesses no power over the grave. In vanquishing evil and death, the Lord made our salvation possible. Jesus’ resurrection proved He was able to remove sin and its penalty.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour, and I know that I know that I know in my heart that God raised You from the dead. Jesus, I thank you for saving me through your atoning death on The Cross and Your resurrection , and for making me righteous in the eyes of God our Father. Thank You Jesus, that because I believe in Your resurrection, I am granted eternal life. Abba Father, thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Father God, I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your holy name. I pray in Jesus’ holy name to You Father. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

April 15 Devotion - Good Friday - The Cross

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. 21 And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death.

Acts 2:20-23

Christ's suffering on the cross was fore-ordained and was the only payment of our debt that God would accept—this is the great sacrifice on which the eternal life of believers depends. If Christ had not gone to the cross and suffered in our place, the just for the unjust, there would not have been a spark of hope for us. There would have been a mighty chasm between us and God, which no man ever could have crossed.

Please listen and watch: https://youtu.be/MPmGcridHQ8

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You Lord thank You for loving me so much that You let Your Son die on the cross to redeem me, a sinner. As Jesus said: Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13 God, I thank You, praise You, glorify You and lift you up on high. Strengthen me Lord through The Holy Spirit, so that that I may walk in such a way that is fully pleasing to You and is fruitful in every good work. Thank You Jesus for dying in my place and that through The Cross I am redeemed, forgiven, justified, reconciled to God, sanctified, and glorified. In Your Holy Name Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, I pray.  To Jesus be the glory, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

April 14 Devotion - Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper

When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. 15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.”

Luke 22: 14-20

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

John 6:53-58

The flesh and blood of the Son of man, denote the Redeemer in the nature of man; Christ and Him crucified, and the redemption created by Him, with all the precious benefits of redemption; pardon of sin, acceptance with God, the way to the throne of grace, the promises of the covenant, and eternal life. These are called the flesh and blood of Christ because they are purchased by the breaking of His body, and the shedding of His blood. Also, because they are food and drink to our souls.

Eating this flesh and drinking this blood means believing in Christ. We partake of Christ and His benefits by faith. The soul that rightly knows its state and wants, finds whatever can calm the conscience, and promote true holiness, in The Redeemer, God manifest in the flesh. Meditating upon the Cross of Christ gives life to our repentance, love, and gratitude. We live by Him, as our bodies live by our food. We live by Him, as the members by the head, the branches by the root: because He lives (resurrected) we shall live also. (Adapted from Mathew Henry’s explanation of the Bible).

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for the riches of Your grace upon my life which allows me to be forgiven through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on my behalf. Through Your redemption Jesus I also receive the precious benefits of redemption, pardon of sin, acceptance with God, the way to the Throne of Grace, the promises of the covenant, and eternal life. Thank You Jesus for suffering on my behalf, I believe in You and declare You my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for Your body which is given for us and for the new covenant of grace through Your blood which was shed for us. God, I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your Holy Name. Thank You Father for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, and Your abundant blessings in my life. Now to Him who is able to carry out His purpose and do infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Ephesians 3:20-21 (AMP) Amen.

 Jesus loves you.

In Him,

April 12 Devotion - CLAIM GOD'S BLESSINGS

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ

Ephesians 1:3

Please notice that this verse is in the past tense. The Apostle Paul wrote that Jesus Christ already has made all these blessings available to those who believe in Him. He did not say that God is going to bless us with spiritual blessings once we are in heaven, or even once we fulfill certain duties, roles, or commands.

I invite you to repeat the following Prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me and Your abundant blessings in my life. Lord, You have already provided for all my needs and made them available to me through Christ Jesus. Teach me to claim them, and receive them, through faith, prayer, and total belief that I will receive them. My Heavenly Father, give me the inner vision of having already received them and the patience to wait for Your right timing. In the name of the King of kings and Lord of lords, in the Holy Name of Jesus I pray. To Jesus be the glory, the majesty, the power and the dominion forever and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

April 8 Devotion - THE RICHES OF GOD'S GRACE

… having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Ephesians 1:5-6

Ephesians 1:5–6 teaches us that God’s will was to adopt us as His own through the work of Christ. God’s will is that we would have the strongest possible relationship with Him through the most precious relationship He has ever created which is His relationship with His Son Jesus Christ.

Every believer in Jesus as his/her Lord and Saviour is immensely loved by God and we are adopted into His spiritual family, we are His children. Salvation is a position of great blessing, each one of us can enjoy being a child of God and receive His blessings and gifts of mercy and grace and start living eternity NOW.

Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Mathew 7:9-11

I invite you to please repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You Father who is in heaven that when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour and surrendered to His leadership over my life, I was adopted into Your family and ‘saved’ as a co-heir with Christ. Thank You God for the riches of Your grace. Thank You that You allowed us as Your children to come boldly to Your throne of grace, and obtain mercy, in time of need. Hebrews 4:16. Father God, I come boldly to Your throne of grace and ask You to help me to always seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, for Jesus said that when we seek them first, all other things will be added unto us. Thank You God for Your abundant blessings and deep inseparable love. God I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son; my Redeemer and Saviour; the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

April 7 Devotion - Recipients of His Riches

That He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory.

Romans 9:23

We have to affirm our heritage in Christ and to realize all of God’s promises. Once we understand our relationship to God through Jesus we can begin to live in the power of The Holy Spirit. All believers who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour are extremely rich because the moment we were born again and placed our trust in God’s Son, God deposited the enormous riches of heaven into our accounts.

The devil will try to steal our peace, but we have to let The Holy Spirit convict us of our heritage in Christ and to claim it.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Thank You Lord for all the riches of heaven that that You have deposited into my account. Thank You Lord for sending The Holy Spirit to me and for allowing me to live in the power of The Holy Spirit. Lord, I pray that You strengthen me so that I can affirm my heritage in Christ and claim all what You have for me right now. Thank You Father God for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, and Your abundant blessings in my life. Father God, I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son, my redeemer, Lord, and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings before all time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

April 6 Devotion - God is Our Merciful Father

‘Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act.’

‘I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.’

‘All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.’

Psalm 37, Psalm 40:1, 2 Corinthians

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, You are The God of Hope, fill me with Your Joy and Peace. (Romans 15:13). Give me wisdom to be ‘still’ in Your presence and the patience to wait for You to act. Teach me take delight in You LORD for You are my merciful Father and my soul comforter. Abba, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can commit everything I do to You LORD. I trust You Lord, and I know You heard my cry and will help me. Thank You Father for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me and Your abundant blessings in my life. I praise You God, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your Holy Name. In the Holy Name of Jesus I pray. To Him be the glory, the majesty, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

April 5 Devotion - Charge your spirit

Remain in Me, and I [will remain] in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself without remaining in the vine, neither can you [bear fruit, producing evidence of your faith] unless you remain in Me. 5 I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.

 John 15:4-5

We all have mobile phones that need to be recharged on a daily basis. We make sure we charge our phones because if we don’t, they will turn off due to a ‘dead’ battery. What about our spirits? They need to be charged too. The electricity that charges our spirits is the Word of God, and spending time with God praying, meditating and listening to the direction of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that He is the vine, we are the branches. We need to be nourished through the sap that runs from the vine to the branch so that we can continue to be charged. Just as we make sure that our phones are charged, we need to make sure we charge our spirits.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, please help me to develop the habit of spending time with You daily so that I may be nurtured and sanctified. Let Your God-breathed scriptures convict me of my sin and correct my errors and restore me to obedience. Train me in righteousness Lord so that I may live in conformity to Your will, both publicly and privately behaving honourably with personal integrity and moral courage. Lord Jesus strengthen me to remain in You so that You remain in me. Jesus I need to bear fruit and I know that I cannot bear fruit by myself without remaining in You Jesus because You are the vine, and I am the branch and without You I can do nothing. Father God, charge me daily. thank You for loving me with a deep and everlasting love, Thank You God for Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Lord God I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your Holy Name. In the mighty name of Your only begotten Son Jesus; my Lord and Saviour; I pray to You Father. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, and the dominion forever. Amen.

In Him,

April 4 Devotion - Do Not Give Up

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:9

We all have God-given dreams and desires. Sometimes it seems to take longer to accomplish our goals than we originally thought, or things do not work out at all.

It's easy to lose enthusiasm and end up just settling where we are. But God doesn't want us to settle, He wants to take us higher. But many times, we miss out on God's best simply because we give up too soon. Sometimes we do not realize how close we are to victory.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, please help me not to give up just because things seem hard. Help me to stay on course in faith; and see my situation turn around. Father God, I know You are on my side and You will help fulfil every desire You have placed on my heart. Help me Lord to continue doing good, and never give up trusting You in all faith that I will reap the harvest You have chosen for me, in Your timing. Help me Lord to always say, feel and be trustful in that “I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 Thank You God for Your deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. God, I pray to You in Jesus' name, to Jesus be the power, the glory, and the dominion forever and ever . Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

April 1 Devotion - The Tribulations of Life

“…In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

Tribulations cause anxiety and sorrow and can lead to depression. When we experience tribulation in our lives we  need to turn to the one who has overcome the world. This sounds easier said than done. However practice makes perfect, and as we learn to turn to Jesus in the face of anxiety and sorrow in the little things we begin to develop our dependence muscles.

These days we are experiencing a tribulation as we have never seen before due to the spreading deadly corona virus or Covid-19. I believe the stronger the tribulation the stronger our need for Jesus in our lives.

Learning that ‘Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow…but empties today of its strength’ (Charles Spurgeon) helps us realize that anxiety distracts the mind from communion with God. The Apostle Paul teaches us to:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

 Philippians 4:6-7

The word ‘nothing’ means it excludes any reason. No reason is exempt and we are not allowed to worry about anything. This means that we are to pray about ‘everything’. Through thankful prayer we can declare to God our anxious thoughts and have faith that He will fill our hearts and mind with His peace when we leave our anxieties at The Cross.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, please grant me out of the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through Your Spirit in my inner self, indwelling my innermost being and personality so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith, and I never feel anxious and be always thankful. I pray that Your peace which surpasses all comprehension, will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Father God, thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Lord, You know exactly where I am emotionally, mentally and spiritually and I know as per Jesus’ promise that You will comfort me. Father, I believe that sometimes You do allow the pressures of life to build so that I can learn to deal with them from a position of faith and not from a position of fear. Thank You for not condemning me for my fear, and for providing wisdom for all I face. Abba God, I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son; my Redeemer and Saviour; the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,
