February 14 Devotion - God is Love - Happy Valentine's Day

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:8

Meditate on the following Bible verses that illustrate God's love for you.

(For Arabic verses scroll to the end)

Make it a project to grasp how much God loves you. Read the following verses slowly and prayerfully and ask God to make them real to you.

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness" (Jeremiah 31:3).

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love (John 15:9).

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35-39).

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).

Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (Ephesians 5:2).

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-5).

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:9-10).

I invite you to join me in my prayer and to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love. LORD, I pray that You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith, and I can feel Your love for me, and to follow Your commandment to love others as You have loved me. Help me Father God to feel as a conqueror over all things that displease You through Him who loved me. Help me to be convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from Your love God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord and Saviour. I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. In Your holy name Jesus, I pray. To You Jesus be the glory, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

Wagdi Henein

February 13 Devotion - New Vessels

“No one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, he pours new wine into new wineskins.

Mark 2:22

When we accept Jesus as our Saviour and make Him Lord over our lives, we should become dead to the old sinful nature and alive in the new-life in Christ. We become new vessels. As Christians we believe that God will change our hearts through The Holy Spirit that is within us, to want to do what He wants us to do.

Please listen to the song and join in on the prayer:

In the crushing

In the pressing

You are making new wine

In the soil

I now surrender

You are breaking new ground

So I yield to You into Your careful hand

When I trust You I don’t need to understand

Make me Your vessel

Make me an offering

Make me whatever You want me to be

I came here with nothing

But all You have given me

Jesus bring new wine out of me

Jesus, bring new wine out of me

Jesus, bring new wine out of me

‘Cause where there is new wine

There is new power

In Him,

February 12 Devotion - When we don't know what to do

".....He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths...."

Isaiah 2:3

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.

Psalm 32:8

For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 2:6

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."

John 8:12

"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

John 14:26

We all face situations where we do not know what to do. We also face troubles in our lives. God teaches us and encourages us to always first go to God and seek His guidance through The Bible, to pray and meditate on His word, to listen to the prompting of The Holy Spirit and to only seek the counsel of godly people. Yet we have the tendency as a first reaction to think about what to do on our own and to seek counsel from friends and relatives. I am learning to change my ways and go to God first knowing that God wants a relationship with me, and He knows best and will guide me to follow what is best for me and the advancement of His Kingdom.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, please help me to change my ways and depend on You totally through Your Word, the guidance of The Holy Spirit and Your message which You may inspire believers to tell me. God guide me and strengthen me to change my ways so as to rely on Your wisdom and walk in Your path by following Jesus; the light of the world; and to receive counsel through The comforter; The Holy Spirit; whom You sent to me in the name of Jesus. I want to proclaim the words of the Apostle Paul “All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles”. In Jesus’ name I pray. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, to Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, the authority, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

 Jesus loves you,

 In Him,

February 9 Devotion - Dealing with loneliness

See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you and be with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Isaiah 49:16, Isaiah 41:10, John 14:18, Matthew 28:20

There is a critical difference between solitude, aloneness, and loneliness:

  • Solitude, is a time where we are alone and enjoy the peace and quiet and where we get in touch with our feelings and can meditate
  • Aloneness, is a time when we enjoy doing things on our own, things that we really like that others may not care for and do not require having company
  • Loneliness, is a time when we are alone even though we need to fellowship with others

In normal times we may feel lonely. When we feel lonely we would be served to admit our emotions to God. He knows what we are going through, and He wants to be The One to fill that void. The reality of God’s constant presence with us is a fact, but we are not always aware of Him, especially in lonely periods. I have many times questioned, how come I cannot feel God’s presence even though I know He is with me, how come I feel so alone? When I feel that lonely, my courage diminishes.

I need to keep reminding myself that where God has begun the work of grace, He will perfect it. He will help those who, in humble dependence on Him, help themselves. Having our hearts and our hopes focused on God, we shall be carried above all difficulties, and be enabled to lay hold of the prize of our high calling in Christ Jesus. The truth is that He will never leave nor forsake those whom He has saved.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

O’God do not be far from me; O my God, hasten to my help! Psalm 71:12 Lord, please use my loneliness as a tool to draw me closer to You. I am comforted in the knowledge that I am so special to You God that You have inscribed my name on the palms of Your hands. Abba Father, thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep, and everlasting love for me and Your abundant blessings in my life. Thank You Jesus that You will always be with me until the end of the age and that You have promised NOT to leave me as an orphan, and You will come and be with me. In Your name Jesus, the only intercessor, my Saviour and my Lord I pray to The Father. To Jesus be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

Wagdi Henein

February 8 Devotion - He who is mighty has done great things for me

In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul. When His lamp shone above and upon my head and by His light I walked through darkness; He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.

Psalm 138:3, Job 29:3, Luke 1:49

When we walk in the light of God's countenance, every outward comfort is increased, every trouble is diminished, and we pass cheerfully by this light through life. When we rely on His loving-kindness and truth through Jesus Christ, we will always find Him faithful to His word.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You Lord, for Your promise to guide me and to comfort me through the most difficult circumstances. In the day when I cried out to You God, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul. As I look back on my life, I see how You protected me God through the darkest hours and helped me walk in the light of Your countenance. I can boldly say that He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. Abba, I claim Your promises to continue to do great things for me and to give me wisdom, strength, and peace. Father God, I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your Holy Name. Thank You Father for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life.  My God, I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son; my Redeemer and Saviour; the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

February 6 Devotion - Answers to Prayers

The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

James 5:16 (Amplified Bible)

Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7 (Amplified Bible)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 New King James Version (NKJV)

"Ask a sign for yourself from the LORD your God; ask it either in the depth below or in the height above."

Isaiah 7:11 NKJV

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven

Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us

Ephesians 3:20 NKJV

It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

 Lamentations 3:26

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV

I believe God answers our prayers and needs in 8 different ways. He may decide:

1.            I will give you before you ask

2.            Yes. Prayer request granted

3.            Yes, but you will have to wait

4.            Yes, but not as expected

5.            Yes, and here is more

6.            Be specific in your request

7.            Wait. I have something better for you

8.            No, that is not good for you “My grace is sufficient for you”

God loves us and whatever answer He chooses it is for our best. We need to trust The Lord and not lean on our own understanding, for His ways are extremely different and better than ours. Sometimes going through tribulation teaches us prayer and patience; patience can help us acquire experience which can lead to the increase of hope. Hope then increases our expectation, which in turn increases our confidence in the Lord.

In Him,

February 5 Devotion - "I am the vine, you are the branches"

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

John 15:1-5

Without Jesus we cannot do anything that is spiritually good. Nothing can be accomplished "without Christ", without His Spirit, grace, strength, and presence. Were it possible for believers that are truly in Him, to be removed from Him, they could bring forth no spiritual fruits or fruits of good works, any more than a branch separated from the vine can bring forth grapes; so that all the fruitfulness of a believer is to be ascribed to Christ, and His grace, and not to our own free will and power.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me and Your abundant blessings in my life. Thank You Jesus that I am the branch of the true vine, a channel of Your life. Jesus, I pray that You abide in me, and I in You. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can I, unless I abide in You Jesus. Jesus please strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can bear much fruit; for without You Jesus I can do nothing. In the name of The King of kings and Lord of lords, in the Holy Name of Jesus I pray. To Jesus be the glory, the majesty, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

February 1 Devotion - We are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms

For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:6

Those of us who have accepted Christ as our Saviour and made Him Lord over our lives are justified by the blood of Christ. Christ’s resurrection is the proof that He has made the full atonement, and that we are raised from a death of sin to a life of righteousness; and now we sit in heavenly places. Realize that we now have a right to the Kingdom of God, accept this glory, and be filled with the joy of The Lord in the possession of this salvation, and in our fellowship with Christ Jesus.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You Lord that I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realms. Through Jesus’ redemptive work at The Cross and His resurrection I am granted access to You God, my Heavenly Father and I will spend eternity with You. Thank You Lord that You redeemed me and granted me forgiveness of my sins, You justified me and even sanctified me according to the riches of Your grace. Strengthen me God to behave in such a way that pleases Your spirit within me. To Him who is able to keep me from stumbling and to present me before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy, to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore. Amen. Jude 1:24-25
