April 10 Devotion - Confess

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

The good news of ‘The New Testament’ is that when we receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour, the past is erased in God’s eyes. We may make mistakes from time to time but if we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. God help me to uproot any negative seeds that I have sown in the past and help me to sow Godly seeds into my future. I want to reap the harvest of being in Your will and reap the blessings You have prepared for me. Teach me to always confess my sins to You and to receive Your cleansing of all unrighteousness. Lead me O’Lord in the way everlasting. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

April 9 Devotion - "Abba, Father"

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.

Romans 8:15, Psalm 40:2

When a family adopts a child, a very strong relationship is forged as the will and intention of the adoptive family is to love another person and make the adoptee a member of their family, without any ulterior motives. It is in this sense that God adopts us when we become ‘born again’ by accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. The desire of our ‘Abba’ is to demonstrate His love for the world by enlarging His family. Abba’ is in Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Thank You that You have spiritually adopted me as Your child through Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour. Help me to gain my greatest sense of control by knowing that Your hand of providence guides my life. Give me Lord, this unwavering confidence that there is never a time, a trial, or a temptation when I am outside Your presence.

The Prophet Isaiah wrote, “In quietness and trust is your strength”. Grant me this quietness and trust Lord. God please set my feet upon a rock, establish my steps and grant me victory over the most unreasonable situation. Be my strength Father in all that I am facing and grant me true victory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Easter Devotion - The Resurrection: Does It Matter?

if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

Romans 10:8-11

Believing that the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead is essential for Christians. Merely recognizing that He died for our sins is not enough; we must accept His resurrection in order to receive eternal life. Christ paid our debt, but His sacrifice on the cross means nothing if He possesses no power over the grave. In vanquishing evil and death, the Lord made our salvation possible.

Jesus’ resurrection proved He was able to remove sin and its penalty. Assuming Christ remained dead would mean accepting the opposite—that believers are still in sin. And the inevitable end of a sinful life is death. Consequently, a person who denies Christ’s eternal nature looks toward a void future.

Instead of enjoying Christian liberty and anticipating a home in heaven, those who reject resurrection are slaves to the present, with no real hope or meaning in life. Career, family, and good works can offer brief pleasure but not the kind of joy that comes from knowing we are right with the Lord and working in His will.

Resurrection is not a denominational issue or a point for theological debate. Either we believe Christ rose from the dead and ascended to heaven or we do not. If we reject His victory over the grave, we deny ourselves a place in eternity. But if we accept the truth, Paul assures that we will be saved.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for all Your blessings. Jesus I confess that You are my Lord, and believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. Jesus I thank you for saving me through your atoning death on the cross at Calvary and for making me righteous in the eyes of God our Father. Thank you Jesus that because I believe in Your resurrection I am granted eternal life. In Your name Jesus I pray. Amen.

April 6 Devotion - Jesus Prays for All believers - Part 2

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

John 17:20-23

Jesus asked for unity amongst believers. He desires that we have a deep connection with Him and The Father and other believers. He gave us a new commandment:

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”

John 13:34

Both unity and love have the same purpose “that the world may know”. Jesus commands us to be united in Him. As believers in Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour, we need to be united with each other in every family, in every Church and across all denominations, churches and counties, and lift up ‘The Church’ as one church, because Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her Ephesians 5:25.

The unity that Christ offers brings peace within and between believers. In the world system we may have tribulations and persecution but we have Jesus’ assurance:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

I invite you to repeat the following prayer:

Abba Father, thank  You for Your abundant blessings.

Thank You Jesus for praying for me, to our Father.

Thank You Jesus for granting me eternal life through the Cross.

Thank You Jesus that you are in me and I in You.

Thank You Father for Your love.

Thank You Jesus for revealing God to me, because I have these wonderful resources, I can persevere in my faith.

Abba Father, please set me apart for your service so that I may fulfill Your mission for me on this earth.

Help me Jesus to carry out Your commandment to love others and be united with all my Christian brothers and sisters.

Help me God to demonstrate unity with fellow believers through love, obedience and commitment to Your will.

Thank you Jesus for the peace You give me and the assurance that You have conquered the world.

April 5 Devotion - Jesus Prays for All Believers - Part 1

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;

Jesus words, "I pray also for those who will believe in me through their word”, should give us real comfort especially during times of adversity.

After praying for his disciples, Jesus prayed for all those who would believe in him through their word. In a sense, everyone who has become a believer; a follower of Christ; has done so through the apostles' message. So Jesus was praying for all the believers who would ever exist.

He was praying for you and me and other believers we know. And he was praying for those he wants us to reach with His Message of salvation.

Knowing that Jesus prayed for us should give us confidence as we work for His Kingdom.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Thank You Jesus for praying for me, to our Father. Thank you Jesus for granting me eternal life through the Cross. Jesus teach us to pray as You taught Your disciples. Father strengthen our faith and give us this peace and confidence that Your promises are coming true, and that it is an awesome thing You are doing for us believers throughout the world and especially in all these nations that do not believe in Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

April 4 Devotion - God, take control of my life

There are 4 ways my life can be controlled:

1. I can be controlled by the particular situation I am facing. In this case I cannot have peace because at any second that situation can change and be out of control. Life’s circumstances can change in a heartbeat.

2. I can be controlled by another person who controls the circumstance in which I am involved. I may have peace for a while, but eventually that person may disappoint me and let me down in some way, and I can lose my peace.

3. I am in control, and it may appear that I have the power to guarantee myself a peaceful existence, but eventually I may make a mistake or something/someone will enter the picture to rearrange my circumstances, and before I know it, I will find that my ability to create and control my own serenity was an illusion.

4. God is in control of my life. With Him steering the ship, there’s every reason to hope, every reason to feel confident, and every reason to move forward boldly in my life, expecting the best out of every experience. Because God is in control of my life, and I have a strong, unshakable conviction on this matter, then and only then will I have the necessary foundation to experience what the Scriptures call “the peace that transcends all understanding.”

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27

..and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

Please repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Thank you LORD that I have absolutely no doubt that You are in control of every second of my future and that through this assurance I can have an inner sense of peace that transcends all our human understanding. Thank You Father that You delight in showing me again and again that You are the source of my strength, my provision, my protection, and my ultimate success in life. In the name of Your precious Son Jesus, I pray. I thank You Jesus that You promised that You will never leave me or forsake me. Amen.

April 3 Devotion - CLAIM GOD'S BLESSINGS

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ

Ephesians 1:3

Please notice that this verse is in the past tense. The Apostle Paul wrote that Jesus Christ already has made all of these blessings available to those who believe in Him. He did not say that God is going to bless us with spiritual blessings once we are in heaven, or even once we fulfill certain duties, roles, or commands.

I invite you to repeat the following Prayer for yourself

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. You have already provided for all my needs and made them available to me through Christ Jesus. Teach me to claim them, and receive them, through faith, prayer, and total belief that I will receive them. Give me the inner vision of having already received them and the patience to wait for Your right timing. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

March 30 Devotion - In times of weakness

He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

Sometimes our prayers are not answered and God’s grace that will be imparted will be of greater value to the individual than would be the direct answer to his/her prayer.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Lord, please teach me to respond prayerfully in times of weakness. Show me the purpose of what I am facing, and give me Your wisdom and strength to handle the situation according to Your will and grace for my life. May the power of Christ rest upon me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Humbled and Exalted Christ

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

Philippians 2:5-9

Many of us wish and strive to be Christ-like. We learn from the above scriptures that Jesus was obedient, humble and loving. He loved us and died on the cross in our place. He offers us the opportunity to be forgiven, redeemed and declared righteous in the eyes of God, by accepting Him as our Saviour and declaring Him as Lord over our lives.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father thank You for Your abundant blessings. Help me LORD and give me wisdom and teach me to be Christ-like, through the Holy Spirit. Help me to be humble andDo not let any unwholesome talk come out of my mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.’ Ephesians 4:29 Strengthen me Abba Father to ‘get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, and slander, along with every form of malice. Teach me to be kind and compassionate to others, forgiving them, just as Christ God forgave me.’ Ephesians 4:31-32

March 28 Devotion - ABIDING IN THE VINE

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

John 15:5

The life within each believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit determines the godly fruit we each bear.

When we believers surrender to the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, we can be kind to ungrateful people because the Holy Spirit is unfailingly kind. We can love all people because the Holy Spirit is love. We can be patient in trials because the Holy Spirit has boundless patience.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. LORD help me view my past failures as the first step to victory. God teach me to humbly surrender to You. Jesus You are the Vine; I am the branch. Let Your divine essence flow through me and help me to abide in You so that I can reproduce the spiritual qualities of godliness in my life. Jesus I treasure Your abiding in me and I acknowledge that without You, I can do nothing. Jesus I pray In Your Holy Name. Amen.
