February 20 Devotion - Be strong and courageous

 


I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous. “Be strong and very courageous. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

 

 Joshua 1: 6, 7, 9

 

 لَنْ أتَخَلَّى عَنْكَ وَلَنْ أترُكَكَ.

6فَتَقَوَّ وَتَشَجَّعْ،

  ألَمْ آمُرْكَ بِأنْ تَتَقَوَّى وَتَتَشَجَّعَ؟ فَلا تَرتَعِبْ وَلا تَخَفْ لِأنَّ إلَهَكَ مَعَكَ حَيثُما تَذهَبُ.

فَقَط تَقَوَّ وَتَشَجَّع


I believe that every promise, order, direction and encouragement that God said in The Bible still holds truth today. God is telling us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. So why do we still live in fear? He told Joshua to be strong and courageous; I believe God is telling me also to be strong and courageous. Why did God repeat it three times and the last time He said have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? God knows our hearts and our frailties and how we doubt. He must have sensed that Joshua, like me, (and maybe you!) sometimes don’t get it right away. It takes time to travel from the head to the heart, we need to know in our hearts that God will never leave us, the believers and followers of Jesus, nor forsake us. Let us be strong and courageous and not be afraid; nor discouraged, for the LORD our God will be with us wherever He takes us.

 

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can obey Your command and be strong and courageous. Help me Lord to believe in my heart and to know that I know that You my God will never leave me nor forsake me. Thank You Father God for loving me with a deep and everlasting love, thank You for Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Abba Father, help me to choose to guard my thoughts and feelings and not be afraid; nor discouraged, for You LORD my God are always with me wherever I go. Fill me Lord with your love, strength, and wisdom. Help me to shift my paradigm to Your paradigm so that I can achieve quantum change. Teach me O’ Lord to meditate on your word. Help me God to continue to declare to the world that Christ is my Lord and Saviour and Jesus may continue to dwell in my heart through faith. In the holy name of Jesus, I pray. To Jesus be the glory, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

February 17 Devotion - Eternal Victory

 


I continue to learn that the greatest lessons and spiritual growth are achieved through what I and the world may consider as defeat or failure. It is at these moments when there is nothing left except God that I realize that God is all I need. That is a great victory in itself, an eternal victory.

It is God who is taking care of the consequences; our job is to trust Him for the outcome and to say with the Apostles Paul and John:

 

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

 وَلكِنَّنَا، فِي جَمِيعِ هَذِهِ الأُمُورِ، نُحْرِزُ مَا يَفُوقُ الانْتِصَارَ عَلَى يَدِ مَنْ أَحَبَّنَا. ذَلِكَ لأَنَّ الْمَوْلُودَ مِنَ اللهِ يَنْتَصِرُ عَلَى الْعَالَمِ. فَالإِيمَانُ هُوَ الَّذِي يَجْعَلُنَا نَنْتَصِرُ عَلَى الْعَالَمِ. 5 وَمَنْ يَنْتَصِرُ عَلَى الْعَالَمِ إِلاَّ الَّذِي يُؤْمِنُ أَنَّ يَسُوعَ هُوَ ابْنُ اللهِ؟

Abba Father, thank You for Your love that gives me victory. Thank You God that whatever my circumstances, I can overcome the world because I am born again of The Spirit through my acceptance of Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, and my faith that He is The Son of God and that He died for the forgiveness of my sins, that He was resurrected and ascended to The Heavens and is seated at Your hand Father God. Lord, I pray to You in the name of Your only begotten Son, The King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus The Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, and the authority since the beginning of time, and now, and forevermore. Amen.

February 15 Devotion - Reconciled with God

 


All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ هُوَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ الَّذِي صَالَحَنَا مَعَ نَفْسِهِ بِالْمَسِيحِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَنَا خِدْمَةَ هَذِهِ الْمُصَالَحَةِ.

 19 ذَلِكَ أَنَّ اللهَ كَانَ فِي الْمَسِيحِ مُصَالِحاً الْعَالَمَ مَعَ نَفْسِهِ، غَيْرَ حَاسِبٍ عَلَيْهِمْ خَطَايَاهُمْ، وَقَدْ وَضَعَ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا رِسَالَةَ هَذِهِ الْمُصَالَحَةِ.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 

To reconcile is to exchange enmity for friendship, and it requires that the cause of enmity or hostility be removed. The cause of hostility between man toward God was removed by Jesus taking on the sins of the world. Peace is ultimately the condition that can exist between God and man because of the redeeming work of Christ who through the Cross reconciled us with God.

In our lives if someone acts wrongly against us, abuses us, we are asked to forgive him/her/them. Forgiveness is between us and God, He is the holder of the account. In order to be reconciled with that person, the reason for the enmity, wrongful act, abuse has to be removed. Removal requires that the person committing the abuse apologizes for her/his wrongful act and totally ceases the abuse/ wrongful acts. If that does not happen, we still can forgive them, pray for them, and love them but cease to have a relationship with her/him/them.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for the precious gift of reconciliation and peace that You gave me through Jesus’ redeeming work on the Cross which offers me perfect harmony with You. Thank You God for giving Your only begotten Son to die for me and thank You Jesus for paying the price of this immeasurable gift of salvation through Your blood. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen.

February 14 Devotion - God is Love - Happy Valentine's Day

 


Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

ومن لا يحب لم يعرف الله لان الله محبة.

1 John 4:8

Meditate on the following Bible verses that illustrate God's love for you. (For Arabic verses scroll to the end)

Make it a project to grasp how much God loves you. Read the following verses slowly and prayerfully and ask God to make them real to you.

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness" (Jeremiah 31:3).

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love (John 15:9).

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35-39).

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).

Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (Ephesians 5:2).

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-5).

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:9-10).

I invite you to join me in my prayer and to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and Your deep, everlasting and inseparable love. LORD, I pray that You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith and I can feel Your love for me, and to follow Your commandment to love others as You have loved me. Help me Father God to feel as a conqueror over all things that displease You through Him who loved me. Help me to be convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from Your love God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord and Saviour. I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. In Your holy name Jesus, I pray. To You be the glory, the power, and the dominion forever and ever and unto ages of all ages. Amen.

16 لأَنَّهُ هكَذَا أَحَبَّ اللهُ الْعَالَمَ حَتَّى بَذَلَ ابْنَهُ الْوَحِيدَ، لِكَيْ لاَ يَهْلِكَ كُلُّ مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِهِ، بَلْ تَكُونُ لَهُ الْحَيَاةُ الأَبَدِيَّةُ.

February 13 Devotion - We have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit

 


You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

 John 15:16

 ليس انتم اخترتموني بل انا اخترتكم واقمتكم لتذهبوا وتأتوا بثمر ويدوم ثمركم .لكي يعطيكم الآب كل ما طلبتم باسمي .

 

Jesus graciously inclined us by His Holy Spirit to seek Him; and commenced the work of our personal salvation.

Whatever talents and blessings we possess as Christians, we owe to God, and by the most tender and sacred ties we are bound to be His followers. We are chosen to do good, and to spread as far as possible all the spiritual blessings which the gospel confers on mankind. We must consider Jesus Christ as the great Mediator between God and us, proclaim His salvation, and pray in His name.

 

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank Lord for choosing me and appointing me to bear fruit. Thank You Lord that You redeemed me and granted me forgiveness of my sins, according to the riches of Your grace. LORD, I pray that You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can bear fruit and that my fruit may last. Thank You Father God for Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love and for Your abundant blessings. February 8 Devotion - Jesus Prays for All 'Believers' - Part 2

 


“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.


وَلَسْتُ أُصَلِّي مِنْ أَجْلِ هؤُلاَءِ فَقَطْ، بَلْ أَيْضاً مِنْ أَجْلِ الَّذِينَ سَوْفَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِي بِسَبَبِ كَلِمَةِ هؤُلاَءِ،

 21 لِيَكُونَ الْجَمِيعُ وَاحِداً؛ أَيُّهَا الآبُ، كَمَا أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ فِيَّ وَأَنَا فِيكَ، لِيَكُونُوا هُمْ أَيْضاً وَاحِداً فِينَا، لِكَيْ يُؤْمِنَ الْعَالَمُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ أَرْسَلْتَنِي.

 22 إِنِّي أَعْطَيْتُهُمُ الْمَجْدَ الَّذِي أَعْطَيْتَنِي، لِيَكُونُوا وَاحِداً كَمَا نَحْنُ وَاحِدٌ.

 23 أَنَا فِيهِمْ، وَأَنْتَ فِيَّ، لِيَكْتَمِلُوا فَيَصِيرُوا وَاحِداً، حَتَّى يَعْرِفَ الْعَالَمُ أَنَّكَ أَرْسَلْتَنِي وَأَنَّكَ أَحْبَبْتَهُمْ كَمَا أَحْبَبْتَنِي.

 

John 17:20-23

 

Jesus asked for unity amongst believers. He desires that we have a deep connection with Him and The Father and also with other believers.

 

Jesus gave us a new commandment:

 

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”

وَصِيَّةً جَدِيدَةً أَنَا أُعْطِيكُمْ: أَحِبُّوا بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً، كَمَا أَحْبَبْتُكُمْ أَنَا، تُحِبُّونَ بَعْضُكُمْ.

John 13:34

Both unity and love have the same purpose “that the world may know”. Jesus commands us to be united in Him. As believers in Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour, we need to be united with each other in every family, in every Church and across all denominations, churches and countries, and lift up ‘The Church’ as one church, because Christ loved The Church and gave himself up for her Ephesians 5:25.

The unity that Christ offers brings peace within and between believers. In the world system we may have tribulations and persecution, but we have Jesus’ assurance:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ بِهَذَا كُلِّهِ لِيَكُونَ لَكُمْ فِيَّ سَلاَمٌ. فَإِنَّكُمْ فِي الْعَالَمِ سَتُقَاسُونَ الضِّيقَ. وَلكِنْ تَشَجَّعُوا، فَأَنَا قَدِ انْتَصَرْتُ عَلَى الْعَالَمِ!»

John 16:33

 

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings.

Thank You Jesus for praying for me, to our Father.

Thank You Jesus for granting me eternal life through the Cross.

Thank You Jesus that You are in me and I in You.

Thank You Father for Your inseparable, deep, and everlasting love.

Thank You Jesus for revealing God to me, because I have these wonderful resources, I can persevere in my faith.

Abba Father, please set me apart for Your service so that I may fulfill Your mission for me on this earth.

Help me Jesus to carry out Your commandment to love others and be united with all my Christian brothers and sisters.

Help me God to demonstrate unity with fellow believers through love, obedience, and commitment to Your will.

Thank You, Jesus, for the peace You give me and the assurance that You have conquered the world.

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. February 7 Devotion - Jesus Prays for All 'Believers' - Part 1

 


I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word.

وَلَسْتُ أُصَلِّي مِنْ أَجْلِ هؤُلاَءِ فَقَطْ، بَلْ أَيْضاً مِنْ أَجْلِ الَّذِينَ سَوْفَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِي بِسَبَبِ كَلِمَةِ هؤُلاَءِ

John 17:20

 

Jesus words, "I pray also for those who will believe in me through their word”, should give us real comfort especially during times of adversity. After praying for his disciples, Jesus prayed for all those who would believe in Him through their word. In a sense, everyone who has become a believer; a follower of Christ; has done so through the Apostles' messages. So, Jesus was praying for all the believers who would ever exist. He was praying for you and me and those He wants us to reach with His message of salvation.

Knowing that Jesus prayed for us should give us confidence as we work for His Kingdom and as we face daily tribulations.

 

 I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for loving me with a deep and everlasting love, thank You for Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Thank You Jesus for praying for me to our Father and that You are seated at the right hand of our Father interceding for me. Thank You Jesus for granting me eternal life through The Cross. Father, please strengthen my faith and give me peace and confidence that Your promises are coming true. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, and I pray in His holy name. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

February 6 Devotion - True Contentment

 



According to the Holman Bible Dictionary, contentment is:

“An internal satisfaction which does not demand changes in external circumstances”

We achieve contentment when we can seek the things of God above the things of the world. When our relationship with Christ dominates our thoughts and Jesus is the true Lord of our lives.

Contentment is not something we have; it is something we learn.  In his message to The Philippians, The Apostle Paul writes:      

I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. [12] I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. [13] I can do all this through Jesus Christ who gives me strength.

لَسْتُ أَعْنِي أَنِّي كُنْتُ فِي حَاجَةٍ، فَأَنَا قَدْ تَعَلَّمْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ قَنُوعاً فِي كُلِّ حَالٍ.

وَأَعْرِفُ كَيْفَ أَعِيشُ فِي الْعَوَزِ، وَكَيْفَ أَعِيشُ فِي الْوَفْرَةِ. فَإِنِّي، فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، وَفِي جَمِيعِ الأَحْوَالِ، مُتَدَرِّبٌ عَلَى الشَّبَعِ وَعَلَى الْجُوعِ، وَعَلَى الْعَيْشِ فِي الْوَفْرَةِ أَوْ فِي الْعَوَزِ.

إِنِّي أَسْتَطِيعُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ، فِي الْمَسِيحِ الَّذِي يُقَوِّينِي.

Philippians 4:11-13

 

 Contentment is a choice. Not being content may be considered an insult to our Heavenly Father. Contentment does not mean settling for mediocrity. The Apostle Paul never settled for mediocrity. 

 

I believe that the secret to the Christian maturity of contentment is found in two ingredients:

1. Understanding who we are here to please, our mission is to serve God

2. Understanding where our strength comes from, our strength is from God

In order to learn to be content we need to learn to release control and surrender to God. 

 

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father please help me to give You glory by being content in You. Give me Lord the quest of contentment by teaching me to be content. Help me Lord to always have an attitude of gratitude. Lord, increase my love for You, my trust in You, and my dependence on You. God please remove from me the desire of always wanting more and teach me contentment in every circumstance. I know that You promised to give me what I need. Help me Father to be released from the desire to get more and develop in me the desire to give more. Help me realize that I can do all things, if they ae according to Your will, through Christ who strengthens me. Thank You Father God for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, 21to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Ephesians 3:20-21 Amen.

February 3 Devotion - New Vessels

 


“No one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, he pours new wine into new wineskins.

وَلَيْسَ أَحَدٌ يَجْعَلُ خَمْرًا جَدِيدَةً فِي زِقَاق عَتِيقَةٍ، لِئَلاَّ تَشُقَّ الْخَمْرُ الْجَدِيدَةُ الزِّقَاقَ، فَالْخَمْرُ تَنْصَبُّ وَالزِّقَاقُ تَتْلَفُ. بَلْ يَجْعَلُونَ خَمْرًا جَدِيدَةً فِي زِقَاق جَدِيدَةٍ».

 

Mark 2:22 

When we accept Jesus as our Saviour and make Him Lord over our lives, we should become dead to the old sinful nature and alive in the new life in Christ. We need to keep the self-life nailed to the cross so that the imputed life of Christ may be manifested in all we do. As Christians we believe that God will change our hearts to want to do what He wants us to do.

February 2 Devotion - Dealing with loneliness

 

See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you and be with you always, even to the end of the age.”

10 لَا تَخَفْ لأَنِّي مَعَكَ. لَا تَتَلَفَّتْ حَوْلَكَ جَزَعاً، لأَنِّي إِلَهُكَ، أُشَدِّدُكَ وَأُعِينُكَ وَأَعْضُدُكَ بِيَمِينِ بِرِّي لَقَدْ نَقَشتُكِ عَلَى يَدَيَّ.

لَنْ أَتْرُكَكُمْ يَتَامَى، بَلْ سَأَعُودُ إِلَيْكُمْ.

وَهَا أَنَا مَعَكُمْ كُلَّ الأَيَّامِ إِلَى انْتِهَاءِ الزَّمَانِ

There is a critical difference between solitude, aloneness, and loneliness:

  • Solitude, is a time where we are alone and enjoy the peace and quiet and where we get in touch with our feelings and can meditate
  • Aloneness, is a time when we enjoy doing things on our own, things that we really like that others may not care for and do not require having company 
  • Loneliness, is a time when we are alone even though we need to fellowship with others

 

In normal times we may feel lonely.. When we feel lonely, we would be served to admit our emotions to God. He knows what we are going through, and He wants to be The One to fill that void. The reality of God’s constant presence with us is a fact, but we are not always aware of Him, especially in lonely periods. I have many times questioned, how come I cannot feel God’s presence even though I know He is with me, how come I feel so alone? When I feel that lonely, my courage diminishes.

I need to keep reminding myself that where God has begun the work of grace, He will perfect it. He will help those who, in humble dependence on Him, help themselves. Having our hearts and our hopes focused on God, we shall be carried above all difficulties, and be enabled to lay hold of the prize of our high calling in Christ Jesus. The truth is that He will never leave nor forsake those whom He has saved.

 

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

O’God do not be far from me; O my God, hasten to my help! Psalm 71:12 Lord, please use my loneliness as a tool to draw me closer to You. I am comforted in the knowledge that I am so special to You God that You have inscribed my name on the palms of Your hands. Abba Father, thank You for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep, and everlasting love for me and Your abundant blessings in my life. Thank You Jesus that You will always be with me until the end of the age and that You have promised NOT to leave me as an orphan, and You will come and be with me. In Your name Jesus, the only intercessor, my Saviour and my Lord I pray to The Father. To Jesus be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings forever and ever. Amen.
