February 15 Devotion - Reconciled with God

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19

To reconcile is to exchange enmity for friendship, and it requires that the cause of enmity or hostility be removed. The cause of hostility between man toward God was removed by Jesus taking on the sins of the world. Peace is ultimately the condition that can exist between God and man because of the redeeming work of Christ who through the Cross reconciled us with God.

In our lives if someone acts wrongly against us, abuses us, we are asked to forgive him/her/them. Forgiveness is between us and God, He is the holder of the account. In order to be reconciled with that person, the reason for the enmity, wrongful act, abuse has to be removed. Removal requires that the person committing the abuse apologizes for her/his wrongful act and totally ceases the abuse/ wrongful acts. If that does not happen, we still can forgive them, pray for them, and love them but cease to have a relationship with her/him/them.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for the precious gift of reconciliation and peace that You gave me through Jesus’ redeeming work on the Cross which offers me perfect harmony with You. Thank You God for giving Your only begotten Son to die for me and thank You Jesus for paying the price of this immeasurable gift of salvation through Your blood. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

Wagdi Henein
