January 30 Devotion - God's Grace - Part 2

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

To receive God’s saving grace each one of us must sincerely do the following:

  1. Admit:

That you have sinned in the sight of God. (we all have)

  1. Believe:

That Jesus Christ died on the cross bearing all the guilt and penalty of your sin

3. Accept:

Accept Jesus Christ to be Lord over your life, your Saviour to cleanse you, your friend to guide and be with you.

4. Receive:

The Holy Spirit

Jesus said:

"I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

John 3:3

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him...

Revelation 3:20

Jesus Christ waits outside the door of your life. He will not force his way in. He wants to be asked in. The handle of the door is on the inside; only you can open the door.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, in Your great mercy You have not given me the penalty I deserve. By Your grace You have given me what I do not deserve, repentance and faith in Jesus The Saviour and Lord and a new birth into a living hope. I am born again to a new life as God’s child. Praise be to You. Thank you for making it clear to me that only those who receive Jesus—not merely know about Him— but rely on Him for salvation, submitting to Him as Master, and loving Him as their supreme treasure—become God’s children. For by grace I have been saved through faith, and that not of myself; it is Your gift God, it is not by my good works lest I should boast. In the name of the only begotten Son of God, in the Holy Name of Jesus The Christ, my Lord and Saviour, I pray. To Jesus be the glory, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

In Him,

January 29 Devotion- God's Grace

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.

2 Peter 1:2, Ephesians 2:8

Grace in mentioned around 170 times in the Bible. I would like to study God’s Grace. It will take 4 devotions to cover it.

God’s Grace is:

A favour and an unfathomable gift that we receive from God even though we do not deserve it. It is God's unmerited favour.

God’s Grace is different from God’s Mercy.

 God’s Mercy is:

God withholding judgment and punishment that we deserve.

Because of God's mercy, we do not receive God’s judgment against our sins.

Because of God's grace, we receive eternal life and a promise of heaven though we do not deserve them.

We receive both God’s Mercy and God’s Grace through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love for me and for Your abundant blessings. Father God, I praise You, lift You up on high and glorify You. Thank You God for the riches of Your grace. Thank You that You have said that as Your child I can come boldly to Your throne of grace, and obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16. Heavenly Father I come boldly to Your throne of grace and ask You to help me always seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, for Jesus said that when we seek them first, all other things will be added unto us. In the name of the only begotten Son of God, the King of kings and Lord of lords, in the Holy Name of Jesus The Christ, my Lord and Saviour, I pray. To Jesus be the glory and the power and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

January 26 Devotion - Endurance

Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing; it is the ability to turn it into glory.

We have all probably discovered that the hardest times to remember the basic truths of God’s Word are during periods of pain or difficulty. With the right attitude we can make it a habit to view every situation through the filter of God’s perspective. As the duration of the difficult times extend the only way to endure and feel comforted is to rely on God and the support of The Holy Spirit.

And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose

Romans 8:28 AMP

If we believe that God will bring good out of the situation somehow, then pessimistic thinking finds no permanent home in our hearts. When we adopt the right attitude, over time, our emotions will gradually align with the truth, and we will be able to endure.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can have Your divine perspective and the right attitude. Lord, please keep me away from discouragement, worry, and self-sufficiency. Lord, please help me to focus on You instead of my circumstances so that I can endure. I know that when I am hurting it does not mean that You do not care about me. Your promises are true Lord, and I am confident that You will change all my circumstances to work for Your glory and my good, joy and peace. Abba Father, thank You that Your deep, unfailing, steadfast love for me endures forever. Thank You Father for Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. I will rejoice in The Lord. In the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ I pray. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, and the dominion forever and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

In Him,

January 24 Devotion - Trust in the Lord and restore your soul

Every new day brings a positive and/or negative experience, and many times we do not anticipate it. We need to have a new encounter with God every day and apply His teachings and depend on Him.

Apply your heart to what I teach, so that your trust may be in the LORD

Proverbs 22:17, 19

When we trust in the LORD, we focus on His adequacy not our inadequacy. Even if circumstances remain the same, we know God is in control and we are sure of His help. We can say:

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Psalm 23:3

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings in my life. Lord, I trust You and I pray that You help me to apply my heart to Your word on a daily basis. Strengthen me in that respect and lead me in the paths of righteousness. Heavenly Father, restore my soul daily. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

In Him,

January 18 Devotion - Your Name is Inscribed on God's Palms

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. 16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.

Isaiah 49:15-16

For thus says the LORD of hosts:… “For he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.”

Zechariah 2:8

God loves us so very much. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 and now the eyes of the Father are forever focused on us because of Christ’s atoning death on the cross for us.

God will never forget us; the followers of Christ; for He has inscribed our names on the palms of His Hands. Neither will He forget the church, the body of believers.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and Your deep, inseparable, and everlasting love. Lord, forgive me if at times I feel that You have forgotten me. Increase my faith so as to know, believe, and trust that You never forget me. I am privileged and thankful that as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ; Your only begotten Son; that I am so precious to You, that my name is written on the palms of Your hands. Thank You Lord for loving me so much that You consider that whoever touches me touches the apple of Your eye. I thank You, praise You, glorify You and lift You up on high. Father, I pray to You in the name of The King of kings and The Lord of lords, in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour, to whom be honour, glory and power forever and ever. Amen.

In Him,

January 15 Devotion - The Foundation of Peace

Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.

2 Peter 3:14

Did you ever find yourself not at peace with God? Although many may frown at this question, I admit there have been times when I have not been at peace with God. There are some Biblical questions to which I do not know the answers to, at the present time, and sometimes keeps me from being at peace with God. I need to realize that He may or may not reveal His answers to me, and even if He does, I may not understand because:

"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine”.

Isaiah 55:8

Lasting peace cannot be attained through our own efforts, but rather through Christ in us. The peace that comes from Him is eternal. Our bond with Him is the foundation upon which real peace is built. I believe that in order to experience the peace of God we need first to be at peace with God.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I want to experience Your true peace. God, please expose anything within me that may be preventing me from being at peace with You and heal it so that I can receive the true and everlasting peace that only You can give. Thank You Lord that through the atoning blood of Jesus I am without spot and blameless in Your eyes. Father, I rejoice in Your grace and faithfulness. Thank You Father for Your abundant blessings and Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love for me. Father God, I praise You, revere You, bless You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your holy name. I pray in the name of The Prince of Peace Jesus Christ, to Jesus be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty and the blessings since the beginning of time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

In Him,

January 11 Devotion - You are the salt & light of the earth

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Matthew 5:13-14

Please note that Jesus never challenges us (the believers) to become salt or light. He simply says that we are - and we are either fulfilling or failing that responsibility. Salt is needed because the world is rotting and decaying and if our Christianity is also rotting and decaying, it won't be any good. Light is needed because the world is in darkness, and if our Christianity imitates the darkness, we have nothing to show the world.  To be effective we must seek to be Christlike in everything we say and do all the time.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that You make me more and more like Your Son so that I can fulfill the responsibility of being the salt and the light to everyone I contact in my everyday life. Thank You God for loving me with a deep and everlasting love. Thank You for Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Father God in the holy name of Jesus I pray. To Jesus be the glory, the power, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

In Him,

January 9 Devotion - Make the most of your Time

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Ephesians 5:15-17

During the day we do many things that may be considered ‘good’, but they are not the ‘best’ use of our time. When something is bad or ‘not good’ we tend to avoid it. However, if it is ‘good’ we may do it.  Doing the ‘good’ may keep us from doing ‘the best’. Realize that the enemy of the ‘best’ is the ‘good’.

The seconds and minutes pass. An hour. A day. A week. A year. A lifetime. Here today, gone tomorrow. We need to focus on what Jesus promises: Everlasting life.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Lord, teach me and help me to properly invest my most perishable resource, time. Help me to use it toward learning to be more Christ-like and to use it with wisdom in a way that pleases You, carrying out Your plan for my life. Strengthen me O’Lord to concentrate on eternal life with You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

January 8 Devotion - Transformation

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:5

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6

Transformation as defined in the dictionary is the act of changing form. When we try to live the Christian life depending on our own strength, we fail.

When we are born again by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit comes to live within us.

When we come to the conclusion that we cannot succeed on our own and surrender to The Holy Spirit, that is when we move from trying to trusting; and that trans-form-ation helps us to start flourishing in our Christian faith journey as we change spiritual form. The Holy Spirit will continue to transform us to increase our faith and help us become more and more Christ-like till the day we meet Jesus in person.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I acknowledge that I can do nothing apart from Christ. Lord, I trust that The Holy Spirit within me is the only force that will make me able to live according to Your commandments. Father God, I thank You for Your abundant blessings and Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love. I trust that Jesus, who has started this Christian growth journey in my life, will continue to work in me to make me more like Him every day. In the holy name of Jesus, I pray. To Jesus be the glory, the power, and the dominion since the beginning of time, now and forevermore. Amen.

January 4 Devotion - Our God Given Talents

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Romans 12:5-8

I believe that God intends for us to maximize our potential—to become the man or woman He created us to be and to use all the talents, abilities, and gifts that He has placed within us for His glory and the advancement of His Kingdom.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I use all the talents, abilities, and gifts that You have placed within me for Your glory and the advancement of Your Kingdom.  I pray that Your heart will rejoice in what You have done in me. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. To Jesus be the power, the glory, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

January 3 Devotion - Depend on and follow God's will

Since no one knows the future, who can tell someone else what is to come?

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.

Ecclesiastes 8:7, James 4:13-15, Proverbs 27:1

No one knows the future, yet we sometimes take what we have for granted and plan as if we are guaranteed tomorrow. While we should plan, we need to ask God’s guidance first and then follow His plan. We often do the opposite; we plan then ask God to follow our plan by asking Him to bless it and make it successful. God is very clear in this area, He says you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” He compares our entire life to a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. While some may see this as demotivating it is quite the contrary because God loves us and knows what is best for us, he doesn’t want us to miss out on His best by doing it our way. He also encourages us by telling us to be:                                                                                      Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go

 Joshua 1:9

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit, so that I always seek Your wisdom and Your plan for my life. Help me to always say if it is the Lord’s will, then I will do it. Thank You Father God that You love me and want the best for me, and You are the only One who knows what the future holds and what is best for me. Help me to realize that however long I live on earth my life is a mist in comparison to my eternal life with You in heaven. Help me to be of good courage and to keep my focus on the person, power, and presence of Jesus Christ in my life, instead of the circumstances of my life. Thank You Father God for being the strength of my life and for loving me with a deep and everlasting love, thank You for Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Thank You God my Lord that You are the One who goes with me, and You will never leave me nor forsake me. Father God, I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son; my Redeemer and Saviour; the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

January 2 Devotion - God's plans for us

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done…, For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

Isaiah 46:10

Jeremiah 29:11

Everyone has challenges of one sort or another. As we start the New Year 2024, let us not worry about the future and wish we could see it. God sees the end from the beginning, and He already knows the outcome, God never ends in defeat.

Whatever is happening in our lives now, let us remember that God’s promises never fade and…

We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.’

Romans 8:28

Let us respond to Jesus’ invitation to ‘come’ to Him and depend totally on Him and receive our rest in Him:

Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, You declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done. Thank You Lord that the thoughts and plans You have for me in 2024 and beyond are thoughts and plans for welfare and peace to give me hope in Your final outcome. Thank You Lord that You have called me according to Your purpose for my life. Father God please strengthen my faith to know beyond a doubt that all things will work for good for me in 2024 because I love You Lord. Lord I am holding You to Your promises. Jesus, please teach me to ‘come’ to You and leave all my troubles at the foot of Your Cross and receive Your rest. Teach me to wait upon You LORD because You said that ‘they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 Thank You Jesus that You have asked The Father and He has sent me The Comforter to live in my heart. My Heavenly Father, In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul. Psalm 94:19 In Jesus’ name I pray to You Father. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,
