January 9 Devotion - Make the most of your Time

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Ephesians 5:15-17

During the day we do many things that may be considered ‘good’, but they are not the ‘best’ use of our time. When something is bad or ‘not good’ we tend to avoid it. However, if it is ‘good’ we may do it.  Doing the ‘good’ may keep us from doing ‘the best’. Realize that the enemy of the ‘best’ is the ‘good’.

The seconds and minutes pass. An hour. A day. A week. A year. A lifetime. Here today, gone tomorrow. We need to focus on what Jesus promises: Everlasting life.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Lord, teach me and help me to properly invest my most perishable resource, time. Help me to use it toward learning to be more Christ-like and to use it with wisdom in a way that pleases You, carrying out Your plan for my life. Strengthen me O’Lord to concentrate on eternal life with You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

Wagdi Henein
