June 28 Devotion - WALKING BY GOD'S WORD

Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word]

Hebrews 10:23

We should always live according to God’s wisdom and walk by faith not by sight. We should trust the Holy Spirit to guide us, and not our emotions or impulses. God always keeps His promises.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You that Your deep steadfast love for me endures forever. Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Lord You are good, and I praise You and glorify You. Lord, help me to be patient and wait for Your way to be declared to me. Strengthen me Lord to be dependent on You and not decide on my own for You are trustworthy and faithful to Your promises. God, I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son; my Redeemer and Saviour; the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

June 26 Devotion - It is all from God

For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

1 Corinthians 4:7

Although we all want to feel good about ourselves, let us immediately recognize that everything we have is from God. Whatever blessings, beginning with our talents, our intelligence, our ability to speak languages, our successes, our wealth and going all the way to our salvation is from God. Whatever spiritual gifts we have are from God. Your voice, your organizational abilities, your preaching and/or your teaching abilities, my writing abilities, and these devotions they are all from God, lest anyone should boast.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank You for all my talents, physical attributes, success, and joy in my life, they are all blessings from You Lord. Thank You for this ‘devotion ministry’ that You have given me through these daily devotions, may they be a blessing to everyone reading them. Grant me the humility to always recognize Your hand in everything I am, and everything I own and in everything good in my life. I thank You for the grace of Your Salvation through Jesus Christ, I know that it is a gift that I am chosen for and that I received freely, and that Jesus paid His life for my redemption and salvation. What a fantastic gift beyond description. God, I praise You, revere You, worship You, I stand in awe of You, I lift You up on high, and glorify Your holy name. Abba Father, thank You for Your deep and everlasting love,, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. In Jesus name I pray. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

June 25 Devotion - In times of weakness

He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

Our prayers are not always answered in the form in which we desire; however they are answered in the assurance of grace sufficient to support us. Grace signifies the good-will of God towards us, and that is enough to enlighten, strengthen and comfort us in all our afflictions and/or distresses.

I believe that one of the reasons why our prayers are not always answered in the way we requested may be that the grace that will be received if the calamity is not removed will be of greater value to the individual than would be the direct answer to his/her prayer.

When we feel weak, we need to go to Christ and enjoy His supply of divine strength and grace.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I can respond prayerfully in times of weakness. Show me the purpose of what I am facing Lord, and shower me with Your divine grace, wisdom, and strength. Show me how to handle the situation according to Your will for my life. Lord, please increase my love for You, my trust in You, and my dependence on You. Thank You Father God for Your abundant blessings and Your deep and everlasting love for me. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and I pray in His holy name. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,

June 21 Devotion - Attitude

Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]

Philippians 2:5 Amplified Bible (AMP)

The Bible says that faith pleases God. An attitude of gratitude is pleasing to God and helps to build us up. Remember when we were in shutdown here in Canada due to the Covid-19 pandemic and I (maybe even you) realized that I had taken many things for granted and only realized their presence when I lost them, makes me realize that I should not take for granted any of the things that we still have and be grateful for them. Now that life is nearly back to ‘normal’, I must keep the lesson to be grateful for everything. An optimistic attitude is not a luxury; it is a necessity. The way we look at life will determine how we feel, how we perform and how well we get along with other people. Prayer and positive affirmations can help us overpower negativism. We need to keep believing in face of all types of adversity, we need to keep an attitude of faith and expectancy because ‘attitude determines altitude’. It’s been said that a negative attitude is like a flat tire, we can’t go anywhere unless we change it.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, please give me Your divine perspective and the right positive and humble attitude. Keep me from discouragement, worry, and self-sufficiency. I know that your promises are true and that You will change all my circumstances to work for the good. Thank You Father God for Your abundant blessings and love. I praise You and glorify You in Jesus’ name. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

In Him,

June 20 Devotion - OUR GREATEST VICTORIES

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.“ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8–9

How do you normally respond when the world seems to turn against you? The wrong way to respond, sadly, is what we most often experience.

This is marked by bitterness, doubt, depression, and hopelessness. These feelings mount up, causing the pressure of adversity to increase.

This pressure is usually released in one of several common ways:

  • we look for someone to blame,
  • develop a deep desire to escape,
  • deny the problem, or
  • fall into depression.

These are certainly not the results God wants to see in our lives!

In contrast to these wrong responses, there are a few things we can do to make the best of hardships in our lives:

•     First, we must strive to view everything from God’s perspective. His ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8), and He wants us to examine the issue from beyond our normal human point of view.

•     Second, we must pray, “Father, what is Your goal for my life in this adversity?” God can turn any time into a teaching moment.

•     Third, we must surrender to the will of God and then rest in His faithfulness to see us through the ordeal.

Sometimes, our lives require a major disruption in order to realign our thoughts with the Lord’s. Though sometimes painful, these times can become our most life-altering moments and lead to our greatest victories, depending on how we respond.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, in difficult times, help me to turn from bitterness, blame, and depression and seek to discover and surrender to Your perspective. Lord, help me realize You are at work in my problems. I surrender to Your care. I trust You for the outcome, knowing You will never disappoint me. Father God, please renew my mind in Jesus. Let all that proceeds from me be laced in love, patience, joy, hope, and kindness. Lord, forgive me of anything I have said to others in thoughtless haste. Draw me close to You so that even in difficult times the words I say will reflect an inner peace that comes from Jesus our Saviour. Now to Him who is able to carry out His purpose and do infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Ephesians 3:20-21 Amen.

In Him,

June 17 Devotion - We walk by faith

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

God has given us the ability to solve many of the problems we face; His greater desire for us, however, is to live our lives dependent on Him.

Some of us try to walk by faith but sometimes fail. We need to stop trying and instead we need to trust God fully and live with the knowledge that He is able to do what we cannot do for ourselves.

For most of us before we get to trust God fully, we must get to a point of helpless dependence. In a state of helpless dependence, we realize that we simply cannot do it all and need God’s help, guidance, and wisdom.

The foundation to our Christian faith is to trust God more than we trust ourselves. When we do this, we gain wisdom and hope in every area of life.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, please help me to realize that my total dependence on You is not an indication of weakness on my part, but a sign of strength and confidence in You and Your promises. Help me God to become totally dependent on You. Lord, show me Your ways that I may be holy (consecrated and set apart for You) and walk with You in confidence and trust all the days of my life. Thank You Father God for Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love for me, Your abundant blessings in my life and for Your grace upon my life. In the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus The Christ, Your only begotten Son, I pray to You Father. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time, and now, and forevermore. Amen.

In Him,

June 14 Devotion - The inseparable love of God

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 3:1, Romans 8:37-39

Sometimes many believers cannot feel God’s love especially those whose dominant love language is haptic communication (sense of touch) see “The 5 love languages” by Gary Chapman. There are times when I did not feel God’s love. No matter what we feel or what happens, God does exist, and He deeply loves us. No matter how difficult the circumstances and tribulations we face, no matter what happens, we can never be separated from God's love.

God hasn't forgotten you. And even though it might not feel like it, He is still in control, holding you in the palm of His hand

Even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will take hold of me.

Psalm 139:10

God has a plan for you. So, even in the middle of all your heartbreak, tell God, "I'm going to hold on and wait for you to show me Your love, no matter what happens."

We need to be able to say what David said in Psalm 27:14,

"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

If we do that, we will come out of all the pain and be much stronger. Let us repeat what Job said right after he voiced his doubts:

"But [God] knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold"

Job 23:10

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, thank you for Your abundant blessings. God, what a wonderful act of grace; that through accepting the atoning death of Jesus Christ in my place and accepting Jesus as Lord over my life; I am now a child of God. Thank You God that absolutely nothing can separate me from Your love and salvation, which is in Christ Jesus my Lord. Abba Father, thank You for Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love for me. For great is Your lovingkindness and graciousness toward me. Psalm 86:13 Thank You God, that in all tribulations I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. Even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will take hold of me. Father God, I rejoice in Your grace and faithfulness. I praise You, glorify You, and lift You up on high. God, I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son, my Redeemer, Lord, and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings before all time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

June 13 Devotion - The Ascension of Christ

The disciples were stunned and lost when Jesus was crucified, they lost total hope.

They regained hope when He rose from the dead and was with them again. Then He ascended to the Father.

After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. 10 As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them.

While they sadly gazed to the heavens the angels told them:

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Acts 1:9-11

What the Disciples saw when Jesus was crucified and when He ascended to Heaven was an ending, however God saw both situations as a bright and glorious beginning.

We can apply this lesson to everything that happens to us in life. Some things come to an end however they may be the beginning of something much better. This even applies to a believer’s life where it may be seen as an end however in God’s plan; he/she is starting a bright new beginning.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, as You sent angels to the disciples; to deliver Your message; let me receive Your plan for my life and help me to move from the sorrow and pain of any ending to the joy of Your bright new beginnings. Lord, I thank You for endings that are truly new beginnings. Strengthen my faith Lord to take the next step. Thank You Father God for Your abundant blessings and Your deep, everlasting, and inseparable love for me. Lord, I praise You, lift You up on high, and glorify Your holy name. In the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus The Christ, the only begotten Son of God, I pray. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion forever and ever, Amen.

June 12 Devotion - Walking in Faith

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

We try to walk by faith but sometimes fail. We need to stop trying and trust God fully and live with the knowledge that He is able to do what we cannot do for ourselves.  Solomon wrote in Proverbs:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

I am learning that the more I trust in God and stop trying to figure things out on my own and obey His commandments through the strength of The Holy Spirit, and seek His Face, the more He will reveal His plan for me, to me.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, teach me to trust You totally and to be totally dependent on You. Teach me patience O’Lord and give me the ability to set aside my preconceived notions of the plan for my life and the courage to follow Your plan for me in faith. Help me Lord to realize that my total dependence on You is not an indication of weakness on my part, but a sign of strength and confidence in You and Your promises. Father God, show me Your ways that I may be holy (consecrated and set apart for You) and walk with You in confidence and trust all the days of my life. Abba Father, thank You for loving me with a deep and everlasting love, thank You for Your abundant blessings and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. In the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus The Christ, the only begotten Son of God, I pray. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time, now, and forevermore. Amen.

June 11 Devotion - God will strengthen you

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]

Isaiah 41:10, John 16:33

God speaks with tenderness; Fear not, for I am present with you. When we are weak, He will strengthen us. When we are in need He will help us. When we fall, He will uphold us with His right hand which is full of righteousness. In His hand, there is victory, strength, and provision. In His hand there is everything we need.

In contrast to our assumption that peace means the absence of conflict, Jesus promises that his peace becomes apparent in the very middle of trouble and conflict. Troubles remind us to ask for Jesus' peace. God's answer will not usually mean that the problem will be over, but that Christ's peace will see us through it.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, please remind me in times of trouble to ask in prayer for Jesus’ peace and give me the faith that His peace will see me through it. God, help me to keep my heart and mind focused on You and obeying Your word. Lord, even when things do not make sense and are beyond my control, nothing is beyond Your ability. Lord, I know that You are upholding me with Your righteous right hand to make everything work together for my good. Thank You Lord for Your deep and everlasting love of me, Your abundant blessings in my life, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. God, I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son; my Redeemer and Saviour; the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

June 10 Devotion - Wise Relationships

My prayer for you is that you will overflow more and more with love for others, and at the same time keep on growing in spiritual knowledge and insight, 10 for I want you always to see clearly the difference between right and wrong, and to be inwardly clean, no one being able to criticize you from now until our Lord returns. 11 May you always be doing those good, kind things that show you are a child of God, for this will bring much praise and glory to the Lord.

Philippians 1:9-11

Our upbringing and past experiences can influence/hinder our ability to build trusting relationships with others. I believe that we should be building relationships that are based on genuine trust, devotion, and loyalty. As believers, we have a mutual interest in our faith in Jesus Christ, and our relationship with Jesus should form the foundation of all our relationships.

Some people; unfortunately, even amongst ‘Christians’; base their relationships on personal ambition, selfishness and/or need for control. When we depend on another person for our happiness and security or take advantage of someone for our own personal gain, we are not building wise, lasting relationships nor are we acting in a Christian manner.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father, I pray that out of Your glorious riches You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that I may be a true friend who comes alongside others without any selfish motives. Help me Lord to strengthen others as You have strengthened me, and to be able to give others wise advice that stems from You Lord. I pray that my love for my fellow believers may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that I may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.  I thank You Father God for Your deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings, and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. Father God, I pray to You in the name of Your only begotten Son Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. To Jesus be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty, and the blessings forever and ever. Amen.

June 7 Devotion - Feeling unloved - Feelings versus Truth

Do you ever feel unloved? Well, you are not alone. So how does God address this feeling? By pointing out the truth and ‘the truth will set us free’.

The best way to combat this emotion is to return to The Word of God and see what He says about us or to us.

Whenever we feel unloved, let us remember that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place and grant us everlasting life.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

What Jesus did for us by dying in our place is the ultimate type of love, for Jesus said:

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

John 15:13

Let us remember that Jesus prayed for us and asked God to sanctify us by His truth. Truth about us is what is important not our feelings.

Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth.

John 17:17

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:

Abba Father,  whenever I feel unloved, remind me of Your love, and Your promises. Sanctify me by Your truth Father and ‘cut’ this feeling of being unloved and ‘paste’ Your love for me deep into my heart and my spirit. Through the truth that Jesus loves me so much that he considers me His friend and He died in my place, I will never ever feel unloved again. Thank You Father God for Your unfailing, inseparable, deep and everlasting love for me and Your abundant blessings in my life and for the riches of Your grace upon my life. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray. To Jesus be the power, the glory, and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus loves you,

In Him,
