Do
you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells
in you?
أَلاَ
تَعْرِفُونَ أَنَّكُمْ هَيْكَلُ اللهِ وَأَنَّ رُوحَ اللهِ سَاكِنٌ فِيكُمْ؟
1 Corinthians 3:16
O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My
goodness is nothing apart from You.
قُلْتُ
لِلرَّبِّ: «أَنْتَ سَيِّدِي. خَيْرِي لاَ شَيْءَ غَيْرُكَ».
Psalm 16:2
As long as a drowning person thinks he/she can help
himself/herself, he/she is dangerous to anyone who tries to help him/her. The
tendency of a drowning person is to grab the one trying to aid him/her and take
them both down in the process. The correct procedure is to stay just far enough
away so that the drowning person cannot grab you. Then you wait. And when
he/she finally gives up, you make your move. At that point the one drowning is
pliable. He/she won’t work against you. The drowning person will let you help.
The same principle holds true in our relationship with
the Holy Spirit. When we are drowning in the challenges and tribulations of
life, unless we give up trying to succeed on our own, we aren’t really in a
position to be helped. We will work against Him rather than with Him. We need
to surrender to His will.
Because you are a believer in Jesus Christ, God is
with you always through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The presence of
the Holy Spirit is unconditional. His presence does not depend on your
performance. When the depths of despair overwhelm you, He is there and when the
joy of the Lord fills you to the rim, He is there.
Knowing that, we should feel great security in the
Spirit’s unceasing and unconditional presence. It should also encourage us.
Through the Holy Spirit, God is intimately involved with every detail of our
existence.
I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings. Lord if there is
anything in my life that is keeping me from surrendering to You and being
totally committed to You Lord, then please reveal it and please give me the
strength to let go of it. Help me Lord to realize that my goodness
is nothing apart from You, and to ask The Holy spirit who dwells in me to think for me, speak for me, and
act for me in every single aspect of my life however small or large it is. In
Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Jesus loves you,
In Him,
