November 1 Devotion - When we just do not feel good

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction.

2 Corinthians 1: 3

There may be a time during our lives when we just do not feel good. During these times we may be grieving a loss or we may be just down feeling unloved, unworthy, insignificant or other negative feelings. When we just do not feel good we need to ask The Father to show us the purpose of what we are facing, what we can learn from it and to pray that He covers us with His divine grace, wisdom and strength, to handle the situation according to His will in our lives, and to remember His promises. We need to choose to believe God’s truths not our emotions.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and love. Lord, convert my ‘not good’ feelings to joy by helping me to concentrate on Your promises, for You have said:

Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength Nehemiah 8:1
The righteous cry and the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles, weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning. Psalms 34:17, Psalms 30:5
The ransomed of the LORD will return and come with joyful shouting and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. Isaiah 51:11
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you. Isaiah 43:2
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

To Him who is able to keep me from stumbling and to present me before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy, to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore. Amen. Jude 1:24-25

October 31 Devotion- Transforming failure to Success

Wealth and riches are in His house; and His righteousness endures forever.
Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Blessings and prosperity will be yours.

Psalm 112:3, Philippians 1:6, Psalm 128:2

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” That approach is taught all over the world. As Christians, we tend to integrate this attitude into our walk with Christ. If we fail to conquer certain habits, or disobey key Scripture verses, we keep trying on our own strength. Although perseverance is necessary, determination alone will not cure our problems.
We need to admit our failure and realize that we can do nothing apart from the support and strength of The Holy Spirit. Failure can be a catalyst that converts our methods from trying to trusting.

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, I pray that You strengthen me to make the transition from trying on my own to trusting in Your power. Lord I know and I am confident that if You set me on a direction or path You will complete it in spite of the trials and snares that are in my way; and that blessings and prosperity will be mine because Your house is full of riches; and Your righteousness endures forever. Lord, I know that without The Holy Spirit acting on my behalf I cannot accomplish Your will. Thank You Lord for Your deep and everlasting love for me, Your abundant blessings, and for the riches of Your grace in my life. God I pray to You in the name of Your precious Son; my Redeemer and Saviour; the Lord of my life, Jesus Christ. To Jesus be the power, the glory, the majesty, the blessings, and the dominion before all time and now and forevermore. Amen.

October 30 Devotion - The Foundation of Peace

The events in Pittsburgh and the world in general make me feel that I need to focus on God’s grace and unconditional love and on His power and ability to control all circumstances. There are some questions to which we do not know the answers to and sometimes keeps us from being at peace with God. We need to realize that He may or may not reveal His answers to us, and even if He does, we may not understand because:

"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine”.

Isaiah 55:8

Lasting peace cannot be attained through our own efforts, but rather through Christ in us. The peace that comes from Him is eternal. Our bond with Him is the foundation upon which real peace is built. I believe that in order to experience the peace of God we need first to be at peace with God.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.
John 16:33
Philippians 4:7
Hebrews 10:23 AMP

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself and others:
Abba Father, please help me experience Your true peace. Thank You Jesus that You have overcome the world. I ask You God to expose anything within me that may be preventing me from being at peace with You and heal it so that I can receive the true and everlasting peace that only You can give. Thank You God that Your peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Father God expose anything that may be preventing me from receiving the peace that only You can give, and help me to rejoice in Your grace and faithfulness Lord. I praise You, glorify You, and lift You up on high Lord. I pray in the name of The Prince of Peace Jesus Christ, to Him be the glory, the power, the dominion, the majesty and the blessings before all time, now, and forever more. Amen.

October 29 Devotion - Suffering leads to Hope

Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Romans 5:3-4

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, please grant me out of the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through Your Spirit in my inner self, indwelling my innermost being and personality so that I can convert any suffering in my life to an increased hope through an increase in my perseverance level, and improvement and strength in my character. God, I rejoice in the fact that all things will work for good in my life. Romans 8:28 Help me Lord to always have an attitude of gratitude. Lord increase my love for You, my trust in You, and my dependence on You. In the name of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I pray. To Jesus be the majesty, the glory, the power and the dominion forever and ever and unto ages of all ages. Amen.
