August 15 Devotion - Surrendered to God

When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
John 5:6

Jesus’ question was probably a strange one, since everyone would want to be made well, but Jesus wanted the sick man to learn to surrender to God.
I find that surrendering is not an easy process. Because it involves self-will, it can be painful. However, it is essential to spiritual growth, internal peace, healing, and contentment.
God wants us to know Him on an intimate level. But this rarely happens when we are caught up in the distractions of the world.

If there is anything in our life that keeps us from being totally committed to the Lord, then God will reveal it. When He does, we benefit by asking Him to give us the strength to let go of it.
Examine me, O Lord, and prove me;
Try my mind and my heart."
جربني يا رب وامتحني. صفّ كليتيّ وقلبي.
Psalm 26:2

I invite you to repeat the following prayer for yourself:
Abba Father, thank You for Your abundant blessings and Your deep everlasting love. Heavenly Father, I want to be made well. Lord, please reveal to me anything that is keeping me from being totally surrendered to You, then give me the strength to let go of it and fill me with Your peace. Lord I praise You, I glorify You and I lift You up on high. Lord increase my love for You, my trust in You, and my dependence on You. In the name of The King of kings and Lord of lords, my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I pray to You Father. To Jesus be the majesty, the glory, the power and the dominion forever and ever and unto ages of all ages. Amen.

Jesus loves you,
In Him,
Wagdi Henein
